Hiya,
I'm selling an item on ebay and someone from Singapore wants to buy the item, I'm not too happy but I need the money and no-one from the UK seems interested. If I sent it by Airsure, would I definitely get an online trackable proof of delivery? I mean I know most UK Signed for's show up, but I wondered if Airsure definitely showed.
Thanks in advance.

Yes it does. What is it your selling though. Read the t&c's on RM first to make sure the item is covered.

Just seen in the T&C's thingy-

Trackable
Airsure items are electronically tracked to their destination, but are not signed for on delivery.

The only comprehensive cover with signatures is offered by couriers like UPS etc which is far too expensive.

yeah I thought so, thanks for all your comments and help :D

Exactly correct and don't even think about going "R/M International Signed For " until you have thoroughly read their T & C's. Waste of money IMO as a great deal of the time it just doesn't apply and relies heavily on the Postal Service of the destination country.

Only problem with Parcels2Go's service to Asia is that they don't cover Jewellery for compensation.

Just looked on there, my item only weighs about 250g at the most!!!

Just as an addition to my post above here is the important part of the T & C's regarding International Signed For. IMO and experience Paypal just will not back the sender up in the case of lost or missing.

We track International Signed For™ items up to the point they leave the UK and in some cases on arrival in the destination country. You can check the progress of your item by using Track & Trace.

When your item reaches its destination country it is handed over to the local postal service for delivery through their regular registered service. A signature will be taken at the delivery address (please note this will not necessarily be the addressee) which means the item is not left unattended or posted through a letter box. Please note that we cannot routinely provide a copy of this signature. If no-one is available to sign for the item, then it will be retained by the postal administration for a subsequent delivery attempt or collection by the addressee. In the case of loss of an item we will request proof of posting from the other postal administration but this cannot always be provided

I'm quite happy to be proved wrong though :)

Thank you, I agree that international signed for is poop, just wondered if Airsure was any better, but it doesn't look like it. Why show that it's arrived at the destination but not get a signature for it?! It's stupid!!!

As far as I can see it's just a money making exercise and they really should be taken to task for it.

I've been bleating on about it for years, lol :oops:

Don't even get me started on the con that masquerades as Recorded Delivery. (IMO)

Lol, don't worry I agree with you!! There's been many a time when I've had recorded parcels shoved through my door with no signature, the worst was a birthday card sent normal 1st class and it was a LL and it needed 6p extra paid, and they'd charged £1.00 fee on top! Thankfully our postie just shoved it through the door lol.

Lock your old FS thread on here then try selling it again in a week. :)

May not get as much as eBay but you'd save on fees.

How do you lock it? I'd expired it, but it didn't even show in the title as expired. I just clicked the spammed button too, see if that'll work?!

You need to report it to a mod for locking.

Just hit the warning triangle and say 'please lock' :)

when i sell things abroad, i insist on payment via paypal gift or bank transfer.
And perhaps royal mail international signed for would be more appropriate?
We sell things abroad every so often and never really had problems as long as we dont use paypal standard.

Well with the greatest respect to you your buyers must be extremely trusting or extremely foolish. Those methods give them pretty much Zero protection, ok for you though.

As for I.S.F. read above ^^^^^ :)

Well if you have good ebay feedback, no reason for people to distrust you.
We have nearly 300 positive feedback with no negatives so no reason for people to think we're gonna start ripping people off now

I got 1 negative for slow delivery (I was ill and had emailed the buyer but they didn't care) but I am a trustworthy seller, everything's been delivered that's been sold!!

Well after 5 years and 1782 positives and no negatives I still wouldn't expect people to pay me by B/T or P/pal Gift unless they were long standing return buyers.

You're lucky I guess.

Yeah I don't think the buyer would pay that way, and even if they did, I still wouldn't be protected if they were a dodgy buyer and either used a stolen card for the B/T or the paypal gift payment.

Both good points, I am also suprised no one has reported you and your still trading tbh czar.

I had a dodgy buyer from germany and I lost both the item and the money, paypal refused to refund although I'd sent it international signed for and rm wouldn't refund as they'd done their job. If you wait about 8 days before sending the item then you'll be certain that the money isn't chargedback with it being dodgy (it's literally taken from your account straight away, without a dispute so you can't argue it out sort of thing)
#24
tinkerbell28
No a bounced payment yes, which no one is covered for anyway. A chargeback no, 185 days is the chargeback limit. So keep yourself covered and keep all receipts.
Waiting more than 7 days is a no-no as it invalidates your seller protection too:)

That's bad you're not covered for a bounced payment. Paypal should ensure they're not dodgy people or at least cover the buyers if they produce proof of postage. It's unfair otherwise. And I didn't know that it invalidates your seller protection! That's bad for me as I'm ill like all the time so end up taking longer usually- yes i do warn my buyers and it's put in my listings too. I end up relying on someone to take them for me :x it bugs me not being able to take them quickly myself .

No true I am afraid, it's especially a problem with bank transfer. Pay, pp tell the seller they have payment, 3-5 days later the payment bounces. Seller looses out. It's why I would never, ever sell anything of value, taking pp. Ever................lol.

Don't blame you. I don't really feel comfortable, I'm desperate at the moment, so I'm throwing caution to the wind. Trouble is, I feel so worried about people paying in cash and collecting from my house, I could have any dodgy person turn up and attack me- I live in a rough part of Birmingham!!

Arrange a time when you can have someone with you. :)

I never let anyone from eBay collect from me anymore.........last time the bloke came and hit and run one of the kids in the street. Luckily for the neighbour and Police i had all his details......unluckily for him he went to Prison for 3 months. :-D

p.s - The child made a full recovery from a broken leg. :)

i cant see how that is against the rules........
I dont charge for paypal nor do I refuse it, i simply ask for payment in a certain form if sending abroad. If they don't like it, they don't have to buy.

why not meet in a public place, e.g. a cafe near a train station or in a central part of town?
