Has anyone successfully sold any domain names?

I currently have a few domain names that I am thinking of selling, and I was wondering if anyone has managed to sell any domain names that they have owned?

Who did you use? How much did it cost? Did you buy any appraisals for any of your names, and do you think that they helped?

Any advice much appreciated and repped, thank you.

best bet is to work on the domains, e.g. put a page with each one ... and get a google ranking for it too ..... by adding a page to the domain .... users can see it exists etc

there are a few forums designed specifically for selling websites / domains, i cant remember any of the top of my head but a quick google will help

not successfully sold any as yet but i'm not actively marketing them as such. I've registered them on http://www.sedo.co.uk and left it at that.

Fae, I heard that you are quite good in this area. Would you be willing to set up a page for each one, and get me some backlinks and traffic?

Could it just be a blog page or something using the domains? What other sort of "page" could I set up? I think I can set up free pages with godaddy, where a lot of the domains are listed, but I don't know what works best, or how to get it recognized in search engines, and generate some traffic to help the sale...

I listed a few on Sedo a couple of weeks ago, but as yet, not even had one click :w00t: I think if you want to sell them, you need to put in a bit of effort, but as of yet, I don't know what that is

just set up a basic 1 page site for each domain ... with a little content etc and then sign up to google webmaster tools (free) and add a html page to your domain directory ... and add a javascript code to the main page.... this will ensure google can verify your site and it will be indexed....

you need to work out what kind of content could be shown on each domain and then set your meta tags & the page content to show this .... advertise your website on sedo and other sites

maybe try adding a ebay auction for it (there is a section for domains etc). This gets your site visitors and could end up with a sale ... also you will have a very big back link...

Hi
Thank you. I will need to look it to some of the things you said, as I am a bit clueless when it comes to doing anything other than buying up some great names! Thanks

all you need to do is create a basic html page, (www.w3schools.com/html) and also sign up to google webmaster tools and do the verifications they ask

Hellooooooo Fae :whistling:
Ok, I did the google thing, but I couldn't add the meta tags, or the html that they need to verify I own the sites :? I have free webpages on my godaddy names, but I think they use, wysiwyg to build the pages (I can just type as normal and that is what comes up) so when I put the meta tags in, it doesn't "register" with the page, and also, the html, it just disappears when I make it live, so also doesn't verify....Any ideas?

Bought my first domains back in 1995. Rather foolishly, I registered something for an enterprise I was starting at the time. Hardly anything registered. Wished I had registered spurs.co.uk - which was available at the time.
