Has my neighbour got planning permission?

£0.00 @
Anyone know who I should contact to check? Also shouldn't I get notified or asked for permission if there's a bedroom window going in that looks into my bedroom window? Thanks! Read More

check with your council planning office

Windows are an issue, my FiL took on a builder and won, you have to do it through your council
#3
If it is very close, then they are not allowed to do this without your permission and planning permission.

Whats he building, cos the regs changed in 2006 to allow certain small adjustments to building, like conservatories a certain size, to be built without planning permission. But yeah check with you planning office

If you ring your local council and ask for the planning office. If they have put the window in thereselves they should have building regs. It best just to contact the council and they should be able to help.

You should have received a letter from the Planning Department before the permission was granted if it was to affect you.

go down to your local planning office you can see any plans that have been submitted also ome buildings do not require planning, i.e. conservatories and a few other smaller additions but they WILL require building regs so check them too

Cheers everyone, fantasticly quick replies, have phoned but need to get exact address.

Will phone back later.

The window is approx 20 metres from my window and looks directly in. There was never a window there before.

It looks directly into my neighbours lounge and bedroom too. They didn't know anything about it.

I think this would've needed permission, it's 2 new bedrooms that never existed and 1 bedroom being extended.

As well as needing permission the council will also come round to his house to check that it meets all current building rules while it is being built.

They will want to check foundations, insulation in walls and other features to check it is well built and follows all current rules.

If they are not happy they can ask him to knock it down.

someone put double dormer opposite me and to the left and I received planning docs a couple of years ago. About 20metres too.

Just got off the phone, they've got permission.

Got to speak to the person dealing with the case later to find out why I wasn't notified or consulted. I would've thought they'd have to see how it impacted me?

cant imagine him having got permission to have a window overlooking facng ur window!

window 60-70 feet away doesn't seem extreme to me - i'm not a planner though.

Maybe not, but it's the only one that looks at out house. Would prefer none!!

maybe they like the view?

60 feet is about the distance to the house opposite mine across the road.
