Think there's been one or two scams

One scam I have seen is people offering to get people a bargain that they can't find in their local store. Person paypals the money over desperate for the bargain thinking the person is doing them a favour, and they are relieved of their cash and get nothing in return.

I got Scammed & the guy who scammed me has since scammed another person & after contacting the Mods they will not ban him saying it's my Fault because after I REPORTED him I never got back to them :-/

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/wanted-looking-for-a-samsung-226bw-/640534

I also had contact again with the Mod on this link & was more or less told he will not get banned & that I should have contacted them again but at the time I was new to HUKD's & no Mod ask me to contact them again so I think I & other Honest members where let-down with this.

The only people who have ever lost money are people who have failed to follow the rules and/or have no common sense.

They then look for someone else to blame( I.e mods/site)

Some of what you say is true,But after I contacted my seller on ebay with his ebay name that he replied with I was happy to go with sale. The mods know I never received what was described & the seller never followed the rules & so should have been banned & still should be banned. He's most probably on here everyday with another user name. The seller went on to scam another member after I reported him.
Why did the Mod give him a warning in the Thread to resolve the issue with buyer (me) & if not he would not be allowed to sell on here again & then for the seller not to follow what the Rules/Mod said & still does not get banned.

^^^^^^^All of what I said is true

Follow the rules and you always have several ways of recouping your money if a deal goes balls up

Any system where transfer of money and delivery of goods is involved, inherently has the risk of being a scam. Even if using paypal.

Lets go to the rule book then....

1. Verified landline telephone number - make a CALL to check out the area code and number are correct!
2. Name and address including postcode
3. Valid e-mail address [no disposable addresses such as @gmail or @yahoo for example]
4. If you're using PayPal, check to see if the seller has eBay feedback. You can also make a small payment to and from each other to validate the PayPal e-mail address
5. If possible, collect and pay for items in person
6. Only buy from Verified PayPal Members if possible

Well no. 1 is pith easy, get a free landline number from sipgate.co.uk - functions just like a real landline number and noone can tell the difference, and you can choose pretty much any area code in the UK. The number can be binned and is completely free. 2. name and address including postcode, well erm a fake address is easy to provide. 3. Valid e-mail avoiding throw away addresses - an address can be throw away if it is from a domain someone does not recognise, not easy to just say hotmail, gmail etc. 4. Paypal, wasn't aware you could check ebay feedback from just a paypal e-mail address. 5. Always sensible but not always possible.

Yes,its not a big hassle imo, several members who have followed the rules have taken this route successfully in the past.
#17
I looked it up using google & it looked like a lot of work for such a small amount.
Also most people who have been scammed Don't go down the small claims court route because it's more hassle than it's worth.
I lost £90 & will learn from it by getting a Lan-Line number next time & call them first but it still does not guarantee I'll not be scammed again.
My only anger is that why this Scammer has not been banned.

My point above about a landline number meaning nothing has been entirely lost then. Go to sipgate.co.uk and you can get a proper landline number for any region in the UK entirely free, easy way to scam anyone if people believe in the sanctity of a landline. What's more is you can register at any address and get the area code to be anywhere you choose.

Small claims court is useless if you cannot identify the scammer's name and address in the first place, serving court papers on a fake one provided won't help.

Yes I seen the points you made & agree with them.I'm still more puzzled by the Mod saying it was my fault & that is why they will not ban this guy who has scammed 2 people now.
Is the Mod saying we will let people scam on here unless you get back to us again after you have reported the crime & after you still had contact with the Mod 2-3 times after the report button was pressed.
Scammers fill yer Boots.

That would be your opinion, I doubt you have conclusive proof. And in that case if you're all that easy to scam I might as well get scamming, I could do with some money and well if idiots believe blindly everyone who follows the rules doesn't get scammed I'll get away with it.

I don't need to go & hunt for Links but I'll give you all the details you need if you want to send me £50 just now by PPG or BT & I'll send you this £12,000 Rolex watch...you want it after all I'll give you all the "Rules" details ?

GTFO the thread then.
I'm not a Troll or a Fool like you to think everyone who follows the Rules would NEVER get scammed.I'll make this easy for you to understand since you come across as being full of your own self importance.

On HUKD's we don't have a Lobby room that Names & Shames the Scammer.
On AVForums they have the same rules as here & they have the Scammed Threads all in 1 lobby room so they are easy to find,Unlike the stupid statement of asking me to go & check 1,000's of Threads & try & find one like you asked :-/

Now don't start by defending yourself by saying more nonsense like "But AVFourms is not the same site as HUKD's" as I already worked that out Years ago.My point is they follow the same rules & Yes if people followed the "Suggested Rules" then it would make it harder. To say you can't get scammed is Foolish.
For you to use Childish words like FACT,DUDE & GTFO the thread then, about sums you up.
Here is the Link to the "FACTS" & if you read them you will find people have the guys Address, paypal detail, house phone number & ebay details & guess what, they are still chasing the scammer for Money/Items.
Also read the BAD TRADERS & you will see the details used. You will also need to be a Member to view it.

You said if people all follow the rules they don't get scammed.Choose whatever words you want but they all mean the same "You want me to prove a negative? There hasn't been anyone that followed all the rules etc, and got scammed. FACT(

<That's all the proof I need dude)."
Now correct me if I'm wrong but does that not mean if you follow the "Suggested Rules" then you will not get scammed :-/

"
Has anyone been scammed that followed all the rules and guidelines?*

*Hint, the answer has two letters."
Yes I'm convinced you are saying if I & everyone else followed rules we would be safe & NEVER get scammed.

"
Just show me one link to where someone on HUKD that followed the rules and guidelines got scammed."
Like I said if you "Put on your reading glasses" you would see that HUKD's don't have a Bad Trader/Scammer Lobby like AVForums do & it's silly of you to think I'm going to look at 1,000's of listings just to prove to you that you can & will still get scammed.

People have been scammed and followed the rules, yes it happens. I bought off the same person but asked to be posted first too, had all the details as did all of the people using the same thread, the scammer took there money and gave accurate details that could be checked up on the usual manor, stopped answering the phone numbers. No no one did.
The Scammer was banned and people didn't receive.

Not sure what the attitude is about?
Go search through feedback if you have time, i'm sure you can search a little. There was a big thread on exchanging details for the few that didn't follow the rules whether the others did and 'got scammed'

Thanks for clearing this up Adam & it was only common sense that desperate people will give correct details just to get the Money & then they will take what punishment comes after it if any.
