I bought a brand new mobile nokia 6300 from woolworth satuerday and i opened it today when i opened it there was no mobile in the box.It was empty box there was nothing in the box
has this happen to anyone before?
(obviously i will go back to store tommorrow)

yes it was sealed box but that seal was not from nokia
i think it has been sealed by woolworth

I feel sorry for you, sounds like you might have a battle on your hands to get a refund. Especially as you didn't check the contents on the same day even

I ordered an ipod nano from littlewoods and when it arrived it was just a box with headphones and instructions, no nano

no it was for £50 i bought it online and picked it from store

i got a game and dvd from game once and it was empty, they put the discs in next day no hassle...

Ah, then Distance Selling Regulations might be a help. As officially it was a mail order, so you have more protection from things like this. I'm no expert though, but hopefully someone can help on here.
I'd give Woolworths CS a ring, and explain the situation. It most likely came in a courier bag to the store, so you can explain that it was not exactly easy to rip it apart, etc to check contents in the middle of the store.

Actually thats not such a bad idea...is the phone number on the box? if it is then you might have more strength for your argument that you dont have it. They might be able to track it somehow and you will be able to prove that its an unused number

there is no mobile number on the box or on the receipt

Never had a bad idea in all my time here. :) Perfection? Quite possibly.

The number and imei number are usually on the box, sim packet so they can block the phone if they don't believe the OP.

who actually uses the sim that comes with new phones these days? I remember the early days and the only way to get a sim was with the phone, these days though people just pop their own in and chuck the new one in a drawer, plus the number of the new sim is not on boxes any more its either on the sim itself or given at registration.

Hello Munir,

Very strange indeed. You said it didn't have the Nokia security seal on it correct? Well you can easily win this, seriously without a doubt you will get a refund or a new phone. But if it did have the security seal, im sure you will have a heavy argument.

Please post back in this thread, I want to know how you get on!

odd. most retailers open the seal to verify contents and usually you are shown the phone. not a very easy case to win but the phone imei can be traced to check for any connections made.

Good luck with this, the 6300 is such a small slim phone I can it being possible to pick up the box and assume it was there.

When I first bought a Dreamcast game I didn't realise the cases were double hinged so I opened it up and no sign of the game, just an empty caddy. The case had been sealed so I didn't think it was tampered with but thought I was going to have a tough time explaining there was no game in store. However I found the cover part itself opened and there was the game, thankfully I hadn't gone to the store otherwise I would have looked a bit stupid.

I bought a phone for the GF at Christmas , the seller dissapeared into the stock room , then returned and I watched every move he made while he put the sim card and phone into the box , then into a paper bag ,then took payment .Would'nt like to be in your shoes tomorrow . I bet they think your trying it on !

as said before, is the imei on the box, did you get a card in the box with the imei, go to customer services and tell them. state that the phone can be blocked by themselves to prove you are not lying, if that does not work ask to make a complaint there and then. good luck

something like this has happened to me and my partner, my story is short and sweet went into woolworths and picked up a cheap pay as you go phone as like most stores they open the phone infront of you turns out the phone had been replaced with a large potatoe and it wasnt the only phone they had which had the same thing in the box, it turns out the delivery driver was opening the boxes doing the swap and putting some blue void tape he had, the 2nd time something like this happened was when the missus placed an order on buymobilephones.net the phone was replaced with a dummy model of the same phone and when she called customer services they agreed to replace the phone but the missus found it weird that they said this wasnt the 1st time it had happend, they didnt seem to bothered lol

i went to woolworth today and told all story but the girl (which had given me mobile ) said to maneger that she checked and showed me that mobile was there when she gave me
i said to maneger how can she check when box was sealed
i opened seal myself at home
but nobody believed me there

take it further contact headoffice better still tell her to show you the cctv (surely that have some covering the till) which will show you taking the phone sealed etc, tell her you will bring in CSI lol who will do a fingerprint test showing only your prints on the seal lol

buy a cheap broken one of ebay and take it back witht he box and say it dont work and get replacement ..... get asome of ur money back .... ;-)

As is sometimes the case in these matters, there is a slightly different interpretation about the course of events, and although it is unfortunate, I don’t think we will resolve the situation in terms of gaining agreement between you and the store.

When there is a complaint like this, there are certain procedures in place that store staff have to follow. I am sorry that after completing this procedure, the result was not in your favour.

This may not be the response you were hoping for, and I offer my apologies for any disappointment it may cause, however, I’m unable to help you further on this occasion.

Have the phone blocked (via IMEI) then keep trying.

Store employee has stolen the phone, else someone in the warehouse/distribution, simple as that.

That reply is disgusting service, its made me think twice now about using woolies!


Tell them to block the phone, after all you'd hardly try and pull a scam if they can make the other phone unusable, although I suppose if you have lost the original someone may try it on with them.

This is terible , I bet you think you've been conned . I am suprised the IMEI code is not on the box , it has been on all the phones I've bought . If you have paid over the net ,was it by credit card ? Can you not claim a refund from the card company ?? .Give them a ring and explain what has happened .Such a bad deal from Woolies.
