Just been reading through spinmasters page, 2500 comments have been left about faulty hatchimals! Seems this year's hottest toy is going to be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Another thing that got me thinking though is all the people that bought from eBay will no doubt be opening faulty item cases and those who decided it would have been good to snipe parents at Christmas may now be facing a backlash too, can't say I'm sad about that, it may even put them off from doing it again but I doubt it.

I expect all the original stock will be fine, the fails will be in the "rush" produced stock when the craze took off; "zero quality control = more to sell, never mind how many fail" in the minds of the Chinese manufacturers.

Where did the hype came from?
I only herd of these things when someone was selling it for profit on fs/ft

I'm afraid parents who can't control or educate their kids - I want, I want ,I want- have only themselves to blame for buying what was an overpriced over hyped toy :(

It's usually parents desperate to 'keep up with joneses' who foist such junk upon kids.

Where does it say that only out of control, uneducated kids were the ones who got these? I managed to find 4 of these from the stores for educated and polite mannered children, their parents wouldn't have bought from re-sellers had they not got them at retail price, and their children would not have been ungrateful about it but thankful instead for what they did receive.

Ok so my kid couldn't give a crap what the Jones have, she asked for a hatchimal because they looked cute and she loves animals, she's also autistic so doesn't give a damn about the latest craze and doesn't ask for much at all.

I wasn't impressed by these things at the 1st look but my daughter doesn't show must interest at all in things and asked for one of these, I managed to buy one from the shops but sold it on to a friend (at cost) when we won one, so glad now.

My daughters was a pre order which arrived on release day back in October. The Toys R Us exclusive Owlicorn and it was one of the faulty ones. My nephews was bought only a few weeks ago and that was completely broken. I do believe most of the affected are probably ones from rushed production though.

Mandz I just want to say thanks again for posting the snuggles my dream puppy deal. That toy saved the day yesterday when her rubbish hatchimal didn't work. She has played with it non stop and everyone loves it x

Sounds more like people who can't read the instructions. Probably the same ones who paid double the RRP.

I'm sure Martin Lewis will start a mis-sold Hatchimal phone line.

Well all you people saying they are a waste of money and junk, well all can say it what my little girl wanted and it's made her Christmas and she not stopped playing with that's all that matters to me

As I said I paid retail for the one I did have and passed on, and I read the instructions on the one I gave to my daughter, it started to work as it should have apart from it repeatedly went to sleep within 2 seconds of being activated, now it's out and batteries replaced it's working but the whole hatching process was ruined, I think mine didn't have enough battery power to see it through the hatching process.

I know, it's such a shame. She was so excited then seeing her sad face made me feel terrible. My sister took hers back to Tesco and was given a full refund. Lots of disappointed kids yesterday by the looks of it.

As I'm a little curious, what is so special about them? Because they seem so over priced, and they're flipping for ridiculous amounts on eBay.

The only good thing I can see coming from this is the ones that sold them on for profit now have a headache coming their way, especially if through Ebay/PP X) hopefully it will put people off doing it again but I doubt it.

Ours hatched properly my daughter loved the noises it made and loves it still since it has hatched is actually better than I thought it'd be well worth the money

That's what happened with my daughters, we cut it open with scissors in the end.

Couldn't find one anywhere, so ended up buying some eggs and an incubator from a local farm shop.

Contact spinmaster and see if they will send a replacement after all the hatching process is why most bought this.

snobby?miserable?judgemental?
No I don't think you are any of those .
#34
Haven't you got to keep rubbing their a*se every so often to make them hatch instead of just leaving them alone?
#35
yeah it should take around 20 mins of constant play to hatch, ours took 2 /3 hrs of manic shaking to wake the little blighter back up as it immediately switched off after each peck.

I thought my daughters was faulty, but nurtured the 60 quid Tamagotchi for two hours today while she enjoyed life. It eventually entered the world while I reflected on why I stuck @ one child.

It's less annoying than a Furby. Kid's happy, I'll settle for that :3

Hello, how is your snuggles? Ours doesnt seem to do much. Moves its head side to side slowly, while opening closing eyes, and goes to sleep..... not been able to make it do anything else. And I followed the instructions. Has newly recharged batteries too. Daughter hasn't touched it much as it seems to do not a lot.

Looks like the result of a drunken Xmas hookup between a Furby & a Hatchimal X)
