Dont use them anymore, there in the hunt to rip people off.

Sent load of gold in, 2 peices of which bought within the last 6 months from a reputable shop stamped at 22ct. Sent in over 10 peices of 18 to 22ct gold to them. They said its all 18ct. including the 2 bits guaranteed to be 22ct. Went to a local gold specialist and they also tested it at 22ct.

RIPPERS.

So what did you do? Get them to send it back or accept the payment?

Sorry I don't understand people who send gold to companies through the post. They even advise you not to send money in birthday cards anymore.

Is this the full name of the company? I have used another company with the name Hatton in it and have found them to be brilliant to deal with. Just wondering if there are more than one company with similar names.

You are advised to sent it special delivery which is the service recommended for jewellery/money.

Maybe it's just me but it all sounds so dodgy.

The postal ones seem to give a better price. Ive seen cash for gold stalls set up in shopping malls and am shocked at the rates they give - sometimes about half of the postal ones. Total rip off.

Hatton metals in London were excellent for me and offered a way better price than local places.

If you don't like the price, you can get your gold sent back, so not exactly ripping you off are they......

Proper Jewellers/Pawnbrokers give better prices according to some.

Ive used hatton 3 times in the past which have been excellent service.

This 4th time there trying to tell me 10 different shades of gold are ALL 18ct. even though theres 2 with stamps on them bought from a reputable shop. I beleived hatton so i went to the shop i bought it from who tested it at 22ct, also took to third party local shop who also tested them at 22ct.

They were trying to rip me off. Just a word of warning to others. Get an opinion from a jewellers before sending it to hatton.

I used these and the service was great i am surprised they have tried to con you.

The hidden con can be in how much they charge to return the gold they `dont want` - making it more attractive to you to just let them have it due to this expense.
