Hi yes its all changing see below

What is changing?

What changes are being made to the eBay Feedback system?

There are five key elements to the new Feedback system being introduced in the first half of 2008:

1. Buyers and sellers will be able to earn up to one Feedback per week from the same trading partner. Today, members may only affect each other's Feedback scores one time, regardless of the number of transactions between the parties. This change will both encourage repeat transactions and reward good service.
2. Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers. This change will be introduced in May, 2008.
3. Removal of negative and neutral Feedback left by members who are suspended or who fail to respond to the Unpaid Item Process (UPI).
4. Positive Feedback percentage will be based on the past 12 months of Feedback, rather than lifetime, since it is most indicative of the seller's recent performance.
5. Restrictions on when Feedback can be left:
* Buyers must wait three days before leaving negative or neutral Feedback
* Instead of 90 days, members will be able to leave Feedback for 60 days

Why would the new initiatives work better for the marketplace?

We believe that we will reduce any imbalance in the Feedback system with these changes. Buyers will be able to more accurately assess sellers and sellers will be protected from buyers who breach our policies without risking a cut in good buyer activity.

We believe that:

1. buyers will be more honest when they leave Feedback since they will not fear retaliatory negative Feedback.
2. buyers will bid more and higher since their trust in the Feedback system and the sellers will increase.
3. our best performing sellers will be able to differentiate themselves from all other sellers and increase the amount of business they receive as buyers gravitate towards them.
4. sellers will leave Feedback upon payment more often in order to increase their chance of receiving positive Feedback.

Is eBay favouring buyers over sellers with this change?

The change in the Feedback system is designed to improve the eBay marketplace which should benefit both buyers and sellers. Improving the Feedback system should increase the number of buyers whose expectations are met. This should result in more buying activity which will benefit sellers.

You will not be able to withdraw this money until 21 days have passed or you receive positive feedback:?

"To confirm that it's really you when you list an item using a different computer (e.g. at a friend's house, in a hotel, at the library), we'll lead you through a simple automated process where we call a phone number on your account. We might also prompt you to verify your identity in other ways."

But do you have low DSR's? Face it, they want to push private sellers out.

phew thats ok then I have been trading for more than 4 years and have more than 100 feedback... but it does not encourage new ebayers!
#21
its one or the other!

PayPal will not hold payments for eBay items if you meet the following criteria:

* You have been an eBay member for more than 6-months, and
* Your total Feedback score is greater than 100, and
* Fewer than 5% of your transactions result in dissatisfied buyers*

Or

* Your average DSR is greater than 4.5, and
* Your have received more than 20 DSRs in the last 12 months

i think sellers not being able to give buyers bad feedback is a great idea.. for normal buyers... the amount of times i have given positives just casue I knew i'd get a negative back otherwise..

non payers get a strike so what other reason would you want to give them a neg?
banned#23
but when you make your listing you can set how many strikes a bidder is allowed to have no?

i havent sold in a few months... will be selling in mid may...

sometimes items get lost in the post and buyers sometimes take it out on us poor sellers as though we have control over the PO... So a follow up neg or nut feedback is need to enplane their inpatients for other traders to see:whistling:

my DSR's are all 4.5 and above. (bullied) :-(

Why would you ever do that ?? At the very most surely you would give NO feedback ??
If a seller was threatening you with bad feedback unless you left them good then there has always been a system to deal with that.

i would hit the good feedback button but explain what happened in the text. i leave it up to the buyer to read feedback. (which is what i do myself)

What always puzzled me is why there is no auto positive feedback for buyers using paypal

take it you both don't use ebay often?

some off the top of my head

hacked account
chargebacks for no reason
unreasonable buyer
saying something is not as described when it is
saying somethings broken then returning one they had before they bought yours
feedback blackmail

etc etc

There's no proper incentive to actually pay for an Item you win, buy now, think later. An unpaid item strike or 10 aren't going to affect your selling status. Negative feedback was put there for a reason. I believe it should stay.
#32
my guess.. ebay are making these changes so the lack of negative feedback on peoples accounts encourages buyers to buy more. this in return increases chances of sales and hence increases final value fee profit for ebay. whatever the case, totally stupid idea to benfit ebay and not the users. worst of all they give reasons to say it will help the users and create a better community, yeh right. ebay is a brutal monopoly, never used to be but is now.

i blame the new ebay boss for uk, cant rember his name but was reading about him and ever since he has stepped up to the job, ebay have gone worse and worse
