Have the actual prices paid at John Lewis rocketed?

I have bought quite a few things from here, normally with vouchers and quidco.

My dishwasher was on its way out - and the best replacement seemed a Siemens with a five year warranty for £334 (which was a well featured AAA and made it about £50 more expensive that a the cheapest with a poor spec and heavier power consumption with a five year warranty) there were also vouchers and quidco available at the time that dropped the price to just over £300 delivered.

Four months on the old dishwasher has died.

The one I had picked is now £350 in JL and no codes or quidco are available.

Prompted by this I looked at other things I had bought - and almost all have increased and obviously have no codes or quidco too. The undiscounted prices are also far higher than would have been expected from the underlying inflation rate.

Has anyone else found this too?

Most international business is conducted in dollars so, as the pound has declined against the dollar, prices in pounds have gone up. Prices depend on sales as well of course so, if sales fall off, it's possible the retailer will be prepared to take a lower profit and prices might then come down again.

most domestic appliances ( Siemens included ) are manufactured in Europe. As the £ has declined from 1.53 to 1.10 in the last 2 years it has made all appliances more expensive.
