Hi guys and girls, have two Dell laptops that wont power on, one is a Latitude D505, and the other a Latitude D800.

Im not exactly Mr.Computer Whizz, so cant really give much info, just wondered if anyone could give me a rough idea of what theyre worth (if anything).

Thanks

that would be top!
theyre just lying around taking up space, and i'd probably end up accidently killing someone if i tried to open it up and sort it out.

why not just do some research and find out why they don't power up ?

i have had 2 dells that had the same problem and found out it is a common problem with dells but easy to sort.its the power socket where you plug in the power suply .

dell didn't tell me it was the bloke in the local comp shop who does the repairs.he said he has loads come in with the same fault.(weak plastic sockets that break easy) i had them do one of mine (the other 1 was not worth spending any thing on) cost me £35 and 2 years on the daughter is still useing it.

id rather just sell than spend a penny on them to be honest mate.
got about 5 laptops between us here, so these wouldnt get used even if they did work.
would rather just make some money on them for my hols!

What happens when you turn them on/plug in the charger? Do any of the lights flash, can you hear the drives/fans spinning, anything flash up on the screen etc.
Also the dell service tag number (should be on the sticker on the bottom?) which i believe can be put into dells website for more detailed specifications.

ok no worries, I'm no expert myself, just thought i might have a fiddle with the cheaper one see what I could do, but no doubt if you post them in FS/FT someone will want them.
