My OH has, though he doesn't tell people!

As a man of science(my OH that is!) I am inclined to believe his experiences,he is in no way a fantasist.
#3
My OH really believes in ghosts and knows a fair few people who have had paranormal experiences. Will have to go into more detail later as going to get my little one from school in a min

I see dead people.

I prefer to think there somewere else, not floating around watching us.

It was the thread on religion that made me wonder if people would admit to seeing/feeling anything in life.

I have had several strange going on's in my house especially since i moved in 3.5yrs ago.
#6
what do you mean especially since you moved in?
How do you know anything was happening before ?:-)
#7
True worded it wrong, joys of 2yr old pulling ya arm to get up and do what they want you to do lol
#8
Yeah, I get rid of them by slapping the TV about.

I don't believe in ghosts as such but.......

I used to live with my nan and in 1992 she died. For a few weeks after the phone kept 'ringing' for no apparent reason and when picked up all you could hear was static. After a few weeks of that I called BT and they said the wires were knackered so they ran 1/2 mile of new line.

The timing of the incident, coincidence? Who knows. All I can say is it was pretty freaky...

I work a lot of nights, when walking through a Dutch barn on a windless night full moon so could see everything the fence doors rattled like crazy and there was no one there no animals no nothing. Though after 5 years of walking around WWII buildings during the night and day I've come to the conclusion they don't exist or I would have seen one by now, I also live in a 1930's house nothing funny going on here either. Rather disappointed actually.

When i was younger me and my mum were looking through old photo albums in the kitchen and i was asking who everyone was, she started talking about one of her favourite aunties called Renee who had died and we were lookin at her picture, then my mum went in the garden to hang the washing and the phone rang, i answered it to a "hiya love is your mum there?" i said who is it? and she said your auntie renee. I near dropped the phone shouted for my mum and she came in and said who is it? i said anutie renee and she said What? then got the phone off me, and the line was dead.
It was really weird and only being young I was quite scared. To this day I think my mum is the only one in the family who believes it happened because she was there, heard the phone ring and knows i wouldn't just say it as it would upset her!
Apparently (according to older siblings) quite a few really weird things used to happen to me when i was little.
Not so much now. lol

Ask derek acorah about ghosts what a dick he is.

When i was 14, we got a phonecall at 8am to say that my grandad (my mums dad) had died in the night. My mum had had a dream the same night that something had happened to him and that in her dream he had said to her he was going and then passed away, then she woke up quite upset at 6am as it seemed so real. It turned out his time of death was exactly 6am. Coincidence?!

While working nights, I have had a heavy sliding door slam shut and open again this went on for about 5 minutes, I have had my name called several times and somebody humming, despite being the only one in the building, also always get the feeling somebody is right behind me, several times throughout the night, and have been tapped on the shoulder.

Don't mess with Ouiji boards, as a teen we were 'visited' by a spirit, whilst drinking and playing with a board, lights flickering, cold spot in a sealed room, and the glass rose off the board at one point...I know it could have all been in our minds, the charged tension (3 girls and 3 boys, teenagers, drink and a late night) but I also lived in a 14th century cottage as a child and saw a ghost of an old soldier ( a roundhead by the description) walking away from the house, and when I left home at 18 I lodged in the old school house, I like sleeping with the window open, however, a lady used to come in my room close the window and stop at the end of my bed before leaving again, my landlady couldn't get up the stairs and the two other lodgers were men, one of them had also been visited by the old school teacher....it hasn't happened to me since my early twenties, but, you never know.

2 experiences

1) gang of us kids broke into a leprosy hospital that had closed down in Wisbech.
We had been in there a couple of hours, by the front doors there was a big sweeping staircase out of the 6 of us , 3 saw a shadow outline of a person stood near the bottom of the staircase.

2) i had been to Alton Towers about 3 years ago was driving back along the M5, it was dusk on a clear night, and on a flyover bridge heading from Birmingham- Bristol i could see someone stood watching the traffic. As i drove upto the bridge i looked up at the person and i couldnt believe that it was just the upper torso , i could see straight through where the legs should have been.

i dont believe in God or do drugs, just 2 things that have happened that i cant explain.

In culture after culture, people believe that the soul lives on after death, that rituals can change the physical world and divine the truth, and that illness and misfortune are caused and alleviated by spirits, ghosts, saints ... and gods.

STEVEN PINKER, How the Mind Works

Psychoanalysis has taught that the dead - a dead parent, for example - can be more alive for us, more powerful, more scary, than the living. It is the question of ghosts.

Well, when i moved in the house im in, thought nothing of it, til i fell pregnant, then at night time i always heard a baby cry upstairs, i went up to check my other sons up there and they were all snoring but a baby was crying in the main bedroom, nothing there. This happened several times until i had my son in 2006.

On 4th April 2007 my mother in laws partner died in the morning, that evening all my children were downstairs and so was i cooking the tea, there was an almight thud upstairs like someone walking across the floor and shutting the doors to the bedrooms, i went up there and there was nothing up there i still think to this day it was him coming to say goodbye for a final time.

The latest things have, things coming off the shelf, the kettle turning itself on, and the other day i was stood in my kitchen on the laptop checking dinner was cooking nicely etc when i was only one in the house, i felt something behind me, as i turned round the tumble drier knob turned round and turned on!!!

It has been strange but it doesnt bother me at all, it did to start with but whoever/whatever it is, is being useful i guess helping me dry my washing lol....my hubby never believed it till he started seeing things just fell off the walls, shelves etc, now he does!

FYI, many people who repeatedly believe they see ghosts etc might suffer from a variety of disorders. I'm not claiming anyone here does, but it is advisable to have a chat with your GP and see if s/he advises further consultations with other members of the medical profession if odd behaviours reoccur often. Delusions of reference of this kind can sometimes point towards - in stronger cases - things like schizotypal personality disorder. There is lots of information about these things online, and anyone who suspects they might suffer from odd or unusual thinking or behaviour is advised to check it out.

When my 85 year old father was a boy the piano in his mums sitting room began to play at night, so, one night my dad and his brother decided to sit up and watch to see if someone was playing the piano to scare them.
They sat and waited until suddenly the piano began to play , all by itself!
My dad was scared but he went over to the piano, lifted the lid, and there was a little field mouse running back and forwards over the keys. ;-)

I dont suffer with a serious disorder like that, i understand it can go to far but many people see/feel/hear things that really arent there 24/7.

I do suffer from depression but i have always felt things were about since i was young, some people have the feel others dont. Some people that are completley obsessed may need hep though i agree.

This stuff is imporatnt - we all have abilities - but tend to learn "to forget" as we get older!
#39
I've had loads of De ja vu, but never seen a ghost - I think it's a load of bull really !

Once your dead, thats it, game over - no running about scaring people !!

Many different cultures believe in the afterlife, and there are often similarities in beliefs from otherwise quite disparate cultures, we can't put it all down to bunkum, just because fakes have made money out of it in the past, there are other genuine unexplained phenomena to lead us to say there could possibly be more to this life than it first appears....it is like prove/disprove there is a God....prove there is/isn't an afterlife.
