No, I am too sensible for that.

Just never had one.

Me and my fella were at the hospital anyway because of the tumour in his saliva gland.

Thought it might be a good idea if we ever wanted to have children.

I'm diabetic, so they automatically do it every time I go to the Diabetic clinic and have a blood test done

Yes but aren't they anonymous - meaning you don't get the results back? Its for medical purposes we were told a few years back.
#19
yes by proxy, when wife was pregnant as previously mentioned.........

Nope. Snot anonymous. It's all on your file. Ask and ye shall discover. Though I would imagine if it was positive, they'd have told you themselves. Some of the tests are for research purposes, but they always stick your results on file, and they normally need an extra signature from you before they can do them.

they don't test me for that, are you type 1 or 2?

Type 1
They asked me several years ago if I minded being tested for it as they were doing it as a matter of course, as far as I know they still do it, made me think now, will have to ask next time I have one !!

What is a window period?

The ‘window period’ is a term used to describe the period of time between HIV infection and the production of antibodies. During this time, an antibody test may give a ‘false negative’ result, which means the test will be negative, even though a person is infected with HIV. To avoid false negative results, antibody tests are recommended three months after potential exposure to HIV infection.

A negative test at three months will almost always mean a person is not infected with HIV. If an individual’s test is still negative at six months, and they have not been at risk of HIV infection in the meantime, it means they are not infected with HIV.

It is very important to note that if a person is infected with HIV, they can still transmit the virus to others during the window period.
