Recently took one of the 1p flight deals to Germany, Weeze. (Well, 5 flights actually).

Was wondering if anyone had ever stayed in the Hay Hotel in Weeze. I have read all about it on the internet sites but was really looking for some personal comments. All the hotels in Germany seem to cost a fortune so we are going the hostel options again. This hotel is just 10 minutes from the airport though and will be ideal so we are closeby for an early moring flight back home.

Or if anyone knows any cheap accomomodation ideas in Dusseldorf for 5 of us. Mixed group but happy to share a room/dorm. Thanks.

Not sure of any specific places, but when I lived in Germany we always stayed in Gasthauses (their version of our B&Bs) - much cheaper & you can usually get an evening meal as well. In fact, because they are small you get a much better & more personal service than if you were in a hotel.

To be honest, I never booked any accomodation in advance - I used to pick an area to visit, drive there, then look for a gasthaus.

You need to look for any place that has a sign saying "Zimmer Frei" (basically "Rooms available").

Forgot to say, every town & village has at least one gasthaus.
