I have just upgraded to LIVE and i have connected it to my router and i can stream/play the videos in my video file. i can also play my music. however i cannot see my HD content. MKV and such like.

yet when i put the content on a memory stick the WDTV LIVE plays it fine.

I'll be a little upset if this is not the case as i am planning to buy a networking hard drive to stream mostly HD films around my house.

any ideas?

Also i have a problem with the networking section as it asks for a user name and password...

i have had it working wirelessly to and it plays itunes content no problem but it just will not see my hd files.

please help i dont fancy telling the mrs another media player is being delivered as i manily have hd/mkv/1080p content these days

What server are you using? or if not using have you enabled media player to act as a server? also in your network settings have you allowed the WD to be able to view Your HDD content?

Just realised that's probalby the problem, media player doesn't recognise MKV as video with necesary codecs. try installing K-lite codec package

i coudl never get it to work i think some others have using tiersity (not spelt right sorry) but cant be 100%

wdtv is a stand alone media player. the old one wdtv could play most things i plugged in however this new one is supposed to play from the network but as you can see above i am having problems. which is a shame as i loved the last one.

I sold my WD TV (not the ethernet version) and bought the Asus O!, the netwroking is so much easier to install and the menus are better to.... oh and so is the remote... £89.99 at play.com

Worth a purchase
