HDDVD poor transfers - which films to avoid?

Anyone give any tips about which films to avoid buying as HDDVD due to poor transfer from standard definition?

From comments I've picked up from various threads apparently Terminator 2 is one to give a miss. 300 and the Bourne films are reportedly "grainy" on HDDVD but this is the way the Director intended them to be.

Can anyone suggest good transfers or bad tranfers? Backdraft or Apollo 13 any good?

Well with HDDVD now a dead format, I would have thought ALL HDDVD films are ones to avoid.

In a couple of years - maybe when you're about 7 - you should think about posting in web forums....

I'm not convinced by blu-ray or hd-dvd, its not really the transfer its the technology with it being so clear - pauses, frame rate drops, grainy look, or any sweeping camera movements that appear stuttered, all these things happen on normal DVDs its just even more glaringly noticeable on HD.

I watched 300 on HD-DVD last night funnily enough. Yeah, it is quite grainy, but as people say, it's meant to be. It still looks like sharp grain though. The sound was excellent too, and the blue-screen Picture-in-Picture commentary is quite interesting.
