I am looking for a cheap HDMI cable and don't know where to buy it from!? Places like amazon have cheap cables but then whack a big postage charge on top. Any help much appreciated! Ideally 1.3 compliant cable if possible

Why do you need a V1.3 cable?

V1.1 should be all you need unless there is anything that needs the extra bandwidth and audio capabilities.

What is it you need it to connect up?

play.com do some good ones, plus quidco too.

A ordinary HDMI cable should be fine, as the v1.3 AFAIK are not any different, except the manufacturer claims to have tested them to achieve 1.3 specs. More snake oil?

Digital is digital and doesn't require all the fancy shielding you used to need on old analogue cables so any of the cheaper cables listed here would be more than adequate.

I have one of the ebuyer ones and an Aldi one and both work exactly the same.

1.3 cables can handle the new sound formats like Dolby True HD and DTS MA the older HDMI versions can't.

The thing I'm not sure on is, are the cables actually any different. i.e. do they have any actual new physical attributes which were not found on cables before? The wiki entry suggests HDMI 1.3 simply has come up with new "categories" of cable where there weren't any before. This means they are tested to reach either cat 1 or cat 2 standards, and older cables may already reach such standards. Anything else like dolby sound is part of the protocol rather than the HDMI cable hardware.
