ordered a playstation 3 and want to connect it to tv through hdmi cable. problem is we only have 2 sockets and both are taken. i know you can get splitters or boxes to sort the problem but dont know which is the best or which one to go for. would prefer it to be automatic too so it comes on without pressing buttons. any help or links to a suitable product would be much appreciated. oh and not too expensive please

Should do, I've noticed some boxes have issues switching automatically - they switch one way fine but won't switch back.

See if you can find some reviews before buying.

How about something like ebay item 120494741648

A bit more expensive but has a remote as well as auto switching - still from hong kong.

i got one like item number 390179560254 off ebay, works great and automatically switches between each source and can also be manually switched

that looks ideal! says no power needed so wont be using yet another plug socket and its a uk seller :-D

The freeview recorder is a bit of a waste of a socket really, as it is not HD, just plug it into SCART, there may be a slight difference but i doubt you would be able to tell. Then you can use the HDMI

I bought one of these as I can only fit one hdmi lead through the wall and it auto switches perfectly.

dcx_badass have you ditched Hayden until you find a hit girl avvy?

so does the tv upscale, so you could just as well use it via scart or component and save your hdmi

Just to say that I bought two of the Neet splitters for use with a single HDMI connector on two of my childens TVs that both needed to connect a PS3 & an XBOX360 via HDMI - they cost about £20 if you get the auto switch one without the remote (it does have a little switch on the box if you do need to manually switch over for any reason) and it's a fab piece of kit. Excellent seller reviews on Amazon & Ebay - really pleased with it :)
