HDMI PS3 Help

Help needed please. Having bought my PS3 3 weeks ago and played it happily through the AV connection I finally bought an HDMI cable (x3 of a 7dayshop deal on hukd). Having connected the PS3 to my 3 month old Panasonic telly all I get is the sound and no picture. Infuriatingly I can here Killzone 2 begging me to play it but I cannot see a thing. Just tested it into my older Samsung TV - same thing!

Any suggestions? Faulty TVs, PS3 or cable?

Did you change the settings on your PS3 before you changed the cable, because it cannot automatically detect the output so it has to be done manually.

ok im no expert but try this.

Put both cables in the PS3 both (scart component and HDMI) and plug both into your TV.
Go to your PS3 settings >> Display settings >> and choose the HDMI option >> switch your TV to the HDMI channel and see if you get a picture.

If you cant see a picture it might mean that you need to change the HDMI output settings or your TV settings if it doesn't support 1080P.

Hope this helps.

1. Hook the old connection up, in my case that was composite, in addition to the HDMI connection between the TV and PS3
2. Turn on the PS3, let it boot up
3. Go to the System Settings > Display settings, and change the display to HDMI
4. Switch your TV to the HDMI input, accept the display changes.
5. Unhook the old (composite) connection.
6. Then try hdmi

+1. Sometimes, they just don't work.

Problem some older sets is they only run in 540 for whatever 500p it is. My mates set I have reset the HDMI settings again using the power button. Its likely the last time HDMI was used with your ps3 it was set higher.

Thank you for all your help - the press and hold the power button resulted in the HDMI output being located - happy dayz. Just in time for 3 days off work! Result. Thanks again.
