In ear ones are far better for keeping sound in. I hate it when someone has ipod earphones on full volume :(

Get the CX300's!

On tracks with a lot of bass i find they provide better quality as the sound doesn't go out of your ears for everyone else to hear.

i have sony MDR-EX71s and they increase the bass and make the sound clear.

not louder.. better quality. inears take a little time getting used to though

The drivers in some headphones can increase the volume also.
CX300's are well recommended by many people. Not hugely expensive either, especially online!
I have v-moda vibes. Love them! Louder (not necessary really due to the reduction of external noise), super bass, quality of sound is excellent, looks cool also, comfortable (I can wear them to sleep, even though I wake up with them wrapped around my neck!) lol

I think i'm gonna get some CX300's myself to go with my shuffle.. only £14.99 at play if i get that £2 code through :)

I really really hate in ear headphones! Ok, more to the point, they hate me! After about 30 minutes I have to take them out - they make my ears too damned sore. Are those shure ones more comfortable? (ie the chunky looking ones!)

EDIT:

ie like these ones

I've had the same pair of in ear's since august last year and ive never had any pain at all... but the problem now is if i try to use normal earphones my ear wont fit them :(

Shures come with a whole range of sleeves (is that the right word?). The foam ones are meant to be very comfy and block a lot of external noise out. They're made of the same stuff ear-plugs are made out of. I think it's more the sleeves you put on that affect the sound and comfort.
You can get 'spare' sleeves from Shure and they should fit the CX300's as the fittings are quite universal.

I hate in ear ones, tried loads of makes and sizes, they all fall out. I use the normal ipod ones, by inear, i meen the flexible rubber cup ones.

But the basic ipod headphones leak sound like mad!

Is it just me that thinks they are uncomfortable? They are fine when they get plonked in, just after a while they make my ears red and hurt.

I don't care, I hate loud music so only have it quietly anyways, just have it as a quiet background sound, can't do loud noises.

Even if you did listen to loud music, having leaky headphones is rarely an issue with the wearer, more of a problem for the people around them!
