Ok guys... we can discuss on this thread. HUKD went a lil crazy and submitted this post 3 times.

I had Reiki and didn't think much of it - but I know other people that really like it.

I'd really love to try hot stones.

I think alot of the treatments offer you to take the time out and reflect. The scents make it a more pleasurable experience.

I had a massage recently with reflexology - the masseur was really good and as soon as she hit my feet was able to diagnose problems I knew I had.

I also recently had some Kinesiology and I thought that was the biggest pile of poop going. My mates other half was in awe of it!

I guess you gotta try things and if they work for you then alls well and good.

I don't believe that there is anything in crystals and gems when it comes to healing properties or good luck. If was some power in the gemstones, then surely it would also be in the rock and dirt surrounding them too. I think that this concept is no different from the so-called healing waters of the various religions in the world. While it is likely that a few get healed (psychosomatically), the vast majority simply waste their money and effort. Those who are healed very often relapse. So the odds of such things working is extremely low.

That is one way of looking at it... I would be interested to know if anyone has really benefitted from using crystals and to what extent. It's a very popular belief so there must be something behnind it all. It can't just be money making.. can it?

Personally I don't do it for the healing - I just love being pampered.

I go to try these treatments just to say I've given it a go, but some of them I have to hold back my laughs because the 'science' around them is ridiculous.

Healing is often in the state of mind - like going to church. If your mind is open, you are ready to be healed - it's like a weight being lifted off your shoulders, you feel better.

I know when I smell certain smells it gives me a sense of well being - lavender, mint etc

Corriander gives me tummy ache as soon as I smell it!

Maybe not to that extent... but I would like to think that there is some form of healing availble naturally through the elements of the earth. :)

How about Mud treatments.. there is said to be minerals that nourish the skin!

I'd love to go to Rekjavik and have mud baths

Again probably just an experience thing for me

The problem is that it does generate a lot of money (books sales, seminars, CDs, DVD, and the trinkets) for the proponents of such things. It does work, but only way way.

That is true... the more open you are to something the more receptive you are bound to be.

Of course there is healling available from elements of the earth - that's how we come to have medicine...

Is it the gemstones you are particularly interested in?

Oh I am a real believer in physical benefits because you can see them, it the emotional ones that I am questioning alittle more. Could crystals alter our inner energy??

A friend treated me to some sort of crystal healing theapy. Had different stones placed on my chakras and given one to take away. Did b*gg*r all for me.

It probably also depends what you are interested in it for. Just taking time out and getting a bit of attention probably works wonders for some people.

Yes Gemstones in particular. Plants, Herbs etc are all things that have worked for me in the past but I wanted to see how crystals could create positive energy from a mental point of view as apposed to something physical where I could see the results from

My sister in law has crystals hanging in her window - when they reflect different colours of light her mood lifts.

Would that not be classed more a visual stimulant?

I once had hypnotherapy using colours, was quite funky actually, after each session everything looked bright and really vivid, the therapist suggested getting some coloured gemstones, and they did help me, but only because I had the hypno first, not sure how they could help in other ways. I really should investigate some of these alternative things, they sound interesting.
