I've just attempted to top-up my son's mobile number via O2's website.
Unfortunately, it turns out I got one of the digits wrong so some other
lucky person has received a free donation from me.

Is there any way I can recoup this money?

maybe ring o2 and explain, or do a reverse charge on your card.

Free credit!!! YES!!!

Are all mobile sims(numbers) printed out in batches according to Pre-Pay and Post-Pay?

Say I have a brand new mobile number 07700 123456 and is a PAYG sim.

Would the number 07700 123457 also be a PAYG sim? Taking into account no numbers have been ported etc.

Reason I ask is what if the number you inputedt by mistake was a contract number?....

(Can you tell i'm bored?)

most of the time the numbers are sequential... my sisters bought contracts together and had the last number different.

ages ago the free sims used to come in order (when you ordered more than one)

I thought on you had to log onto your O2 account and then top up that way?

In which case doesn't it display the phone number linked to that account on the screen?

O2 PAYG TopUp FAQs

Expand the last question on the page and read the last line. Doesn't look good I'm afraid.

Only thing I can suggest is that if you can remember the number you typed in, then ring it and explain what happened. You never know it might be a nice person on the other end who may even return the favour. Good luck!

I rang O2 and spoken to the extremely nice Karen. She checked the number I'd wrongly keyed and found that it hadn't been issued to anyone. Her manager allowed her to credit my son's number as a one-off.
Happy days and thanks to all of you for your advice!
