put it near it, not ontop of it.

if she has runied the screen, you can always buy a replacement off Ebay

Get the battery out if you haven't already and leave the compartment open when drying it out - water damage is hit and miss especially if it's managed to get through a lot of the electronics.

if that doesnt work, take the panel of whatever off and clean in from the inside carefully with like a cotton bud or something.

If the unfortunate does ever happen, the best you can do is power down immediately and remove the battery - this reduces the change of a short circuit across the components which can cause fatal damage. If you leave it to dry and then power it up a couple of days later this is how you can sometimes get away with water damage.

It is a gamble though especially with coke or juice which leave a sticky residue when they dry up which can cause problems no matter how dry the device is.

the residue is prob. only sugar which if left to dry naturally should not harm, the remove battery advice was good but really you should have done that straight away and not tried the unit as the liquid can cause a short.
Let it dry naturally for as long as you can depending on the estimated amount of liquid in it.

I find the residue does cause lingering problems, particularly on laptops.
