Perhaps it's a Graphics Card problem?

Check it's secure inside - ie. fitted correctly!
#12
hi its onboard but i have put 1 in and it dose same!
#13
Every component fitted properly - like RAM etc?
#14
sounds like the mother board to me or possibly the power supply
#15
yer i have checked all the components u reakon psu Reaps

how so ??
#16
did this start to happen AFTER you put in the new graphics card? if so, try removing the new graphics card and reboot again using the onboard graphics.

if you put a new graphics card in to try to combat this problem, did you disable the onboard graphics card in the BIOS? Also is the monitor plugged into the new graphics card - not the onboard one?
#17
Sounds to me like some component is damaged in the motherboard or perhaps you have some cross interference causing errors. Things like this are very hard to diagnose. With motherboards so cheap these days try a new mobo - that might just do it (But be sure to take the necessary anti-static precautions).

hi i did disable onboard while trying new graphics card!

this just randomly started happening one day no software hardware changes!

and happenes on 3pc's!
#19
Delerium nothings cheap when ur a student/unemployed!
#20
your getting this on 3 separate PC's ?

You thought about getting your eyes tested ?

Maybe your colour blind !!!

As stated earlier, if it's happening to all your pc's then it must be a monitor problem and if the same is happening with another monitor is probably sommit to do with the leads.

Either that or someone has poured smarties into them !!
#22
3 PC's, or 3 Monitors you mean?
#23
3pc's only 1 is mine!
#24
Ant - I support about 1000 PC's and have seen this a couple of times before and some very strange displays when the system board fails including changing colour, doubling up of images and complete image distrortion so nothing is legible.

If it still does it with your new graphics card out, a different monitor and during Windows install it's your system board almost for definite.

The fact you've seen it on three different PC's is probably fluke.

How old is it? I guess it's not under warrenty any more?
#25
damn damn damn

no its an oldish mobo well all 3 are !

damn damn damn

looking for a cheap / free motherboard!! any1?!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know of any offers at the moment. Think ebuyer have a 'sale' on. Haven't got time to look at the moment for you as must get back to work.

Let me know if you need any help.

TFT monitors have a native resolution which you should stick to.

The resolution on CRT monitors is dictated by the graphics driver - different drivers will support different max resolutions

What resolution you trying to run? What size CRT?

Make and model of monitor?
#30
its a dell :( m770 15"

its crap

480x600 = max!
#31
you should be able to run at least 800 x 600 on that. You could probably run 1024 x 768 as well but you may have to squint a bit ;)

First try windows update: -

1. Start.... Run.... type dev.mgmt and press enter
2 expand you display adaptors
3 right click on your graphics driver and choose update driver
#32
sorry i am running 600x800 is that max?

what about a gnr vl770fs Super
#33
You could get away with 1024 x 768 on your 15" but will look better on your 17" crt
I installed a 23" Apple cinema display at work the other day for one of our graphic designers. Running at 1920 x 1200 native looked amazing. It was over £750 worth of monitor though.
#34
i have the gnr monitor in the loft!

i could get
1024 x 768 on the gnr?
1 Like #35
I'm sure you could get 1024 on the 15" with the right driver but it probably wouldn't look very good.

Got to go now mate. Good luck.

The screen resolution is determined by your graphics card/graphics driver.

The green screen sounds like a graphics problem:

Graphics Card - you have tried another graphics card so it can't be that.

Monitor - You've tried a different monitor so it can't be that.

Which leaves:

Power supply for the monitor? MoBo?

However it's strange that it's affecting 3 PCs - can you confirm that you are trying each PC with the same monitor, or are you using 3 monitors (sorry if you've said this already - I'm getting lost amongst the postings!) Are you using the same power supply for each of the 3 monitors?

(Have you recently added any bits inside your PC that plug into your PSU? It may be that your PSU is struggling - unlikely to be the cause, still...)
#37
hi i have 4 full sytems set up inmc this 1 im using atm

i took stuff outta here to try on each of others except psu!

thats my next thing to do when mums not here!

if its a psu pro ill be so happy!
#38
no good! im really need this sorting!
#39
Last suggestion from me, then I'm all out of ideas:

Is there an Auto button on the monitor? If so, does pressing it (whilst the PC & monitor are on) do anything?

Right; that's all from me, unfortunately...
#40
What have you done since the 8th Jan Ant? Have you just swapped the PSU?
