Just went to sign into ebay and got the following alert;

We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended because our Fraud Protection Team has notified us that a Fraud Protection Claim has been paid against your account for Item ************.

While this suspension is active, please be advised that you are prohibited from using our site in any way, which includes registering a new account name. It is important to note that if an attempt is made to re-register and use the system, it may result in the permanent suspension of your eBay account(s), which will not allow for a future reinstatement.

Please note that any seller fees due to eBay will immediately become due and payable. eBay will charge any amounts you have not previously disputed to the billing method currently on file.

In order for your account to be reinstated, you will need to make restitution to eBay Claims Administration for the amount of the Protection Claim pay out, and to the buyer for the additional amount that is not covered under the Fraud Protection Program. You will also be required to resolve all other outstanding complaints of Seller Non-Performance that have been made against your account.

Payment must be in the form of a check or money order and must be made out to eBay, Inc. Send your payment to:

Fraud Protection Program Reimbursement
Claim 1231650
P.O. Box 188
Draper, UT 84020
USA

After we have received restitution for the amount of the claim pay out, we will contact you with instructions on how to reimburse your buyer.

When we receive word from all parties that these complaints have been resolved, we will review your account for reinstatement.

Regards,

SafeHarbor Department
eBay Inc.

i dont understand what this is. Please help

I think it likely that you sold something of relatively high value that the buyer never received and has made a complaint with eBay who are now looking into it and as they've refunded the buyer under their promise, they're now seeking the money back from you.

What's the item number I'll have a look for you?

So either an item that's prohibited or it's been 90 days since you sold it. Can you remember what it was?

iv no idea. i sold some copied dvd's a few days back, but i checked the item number in my feedback and it wasnt that. i sold some tickets for a muse gig at wembley june 17th, a couple of months ago, but havnt received them yet, so cant forward them on. i'm getting worried now

Most likely the buyer has complained about not receiving the tickets. What you need to do is email the buyer and explain you haven't received them from the promoter and you'll send them as soon as you do. Once you've done this phone up eBay and let them know what's happened and with any luck once the buyer confirms this, it should all be sorted out.

dino is the best person to ask about ebay

thanks for the vote of confidence

Without a doubt though, it's the tickets as the buyer has reported that they haven't received them.

dino, I could be wrong but I don't think he has canything to come clean about. I think he's sold the tickets, the buyer was expecting to receive the tickets straight away and didn't and so contacted eBay to get their money back. If this guy doesn't check his emails and has just signed into eBay then I see no reason why this notice wouldn't have come up.

There is no phone number for ebay unless you are a PS Silver or Gold.

eBay UK phone number: 02086 053 000

(not a powerseller, just a simple search on Google).

Ebay will not let him start a claim for at least 10 days. He will have had some coms from either ebay and the buyer before his account is suspended. It's not a case of, on day 11 the account gets suspended.

Won't work unless you are a PS, as soon as you tell them your ID that's it, they will tell you to follow the email instructions.

Blimey dino, I thought I had a good knowledge of eBay, do you work for them?

Could be wrong but could swear I've spoken to them before with regards to my accout getting suspended for too many strikes.

No, I just pay their wages :-( :-(
My knowledge comes from 'helping' on ebays P&P Community board for at least 5 years and a lot of research.

I don't understand why the item number is invalid. It should still be active even after 90 days.

Equally dino, Are you going to complain about this seller selling copied dvd's?

I know you usually complain about items that aren't correct with the terms and conditions!

(And rightly so, But it could make Boyo's chances of finding something out worse!)

What is your ebay ID?
When did you sell these tickets?
If the item number is invalid why did you remove it from your opening post?
How many emails have you received from ebay regarding this issue before you received the suspension email?
How many emails did you receive from Paypal regarding this?
How many emails did you receive from the buyer before ebay and Paypal got involved?
Why did you sell tickets that you did not have?
#21
You need to give Dino copies of all other emails related to this.

What hes saying is this email wont have been the first thing you heard about it, so if you have had similar emails in the past,or recent ones which relate specifically with this then in order to help you he will need these too.

Dino is a God around here - especially when it comes to ebay - so he is the one that can help you the most.

(edit):giggle: you got there first steve

Why did you sell tickets that you did not have?

Happens quite a lot on eBay. Many people sell just after the tickets are sold out when the prices are high, when the tickets are not actually in their possession.

I don't think he was suspended for selling pirate DVD's, you get warnings first, then the next time you have to send them a signed letter saying you won't sell pirate software again by fax. It's a 'standard' email letter that you print and then sign.

I think you have 30 days to send the tickets, I'll find a link.

This is what I was thinking about:-

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/pre-sale.HTML

Pre-Sale Listings

Pre-sale listings are those that describe items for sale that are not in the control or possession of the seller at the time of the listing. These listings generally consist of items that are sold in advance of a delivery date to the public.
eBay permits pre-sale listings only on a limited basis. The seller must guarantee that the item will be available for dispatch within 30 days from the date of purchase (i.e., the day the listing ends or the date the item is purchased from a shop front listing). The seller must also clearly indicate within the listing the fact that the item is a pre-sale item with a delivery date that indicates the item will be dispatched by the 30th day from the end date of the listing. Additionally, this text must be no less than the default font size of the eBay Sell-Your-Item form. Currently, the default font size is HTML font size 3.
Breaches of this policy can result in a range of actions, including:

Listing cancellation

Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

imits on account privileges

Loss of PowerSeller status

Account suspension
Why haven't you been in touch with the buyer?
How would you feel about spending £120 and receiving nothing, not even an update or courtesy email??
Why the hell didn't ebay or Paypal contact you first, most strange.

That's a bit too late.
Without being able to look at your ebay account history I cannot say for definite. I'm 95% sure that's why you are suspended.
You MUST have a dispute active in your Paypal account?????????????

Christ, Now it makes sense!

Leaving it 3 months without even checking if they've got it is bad!!!

To be honest, ebay is better off without people like you, your behaviour has been disgraceful and way out of order, but I offered to help, so I'll do the best I can.
I will need your ebay ID, email it if you want. I will keep it confidential.
