i have had the same trouble before
think i ended up changing the keyboard layout on the psp (think you press select)
and select the number pad
after firmware 5.00 there is also a qwerty keyboard too which should have a row of numbers along the top
just keep trying it will go in eventally
god knows why it happens
i also use the wep the one with 10 numbers
but i always remove the wep from the router if i am having problems just to see if thats the problem, then put it back in afterwards
i always also select easy and auto for the ip address etc...

take the security key out of the router
im on a cable connection so have a seperate router and modem
if yours is through a phone line ie, sky/talk talk or bt it will be a modem and router in one
before i put a wep key in, people from outside can connect to my internet
i have a belkin router to access its settings you either type in 192.168.2.1 or type in ROUTERSETUP in you interent address bar where you would normally type www.google.com etc....
on the sticker under or on the side of the router it should tell you how to access it either by 192.xxx.x.x or typing something
go to wireless and then security and in there you can remove your wep key save and exit (well on mine you do)
also note sometimes you can only access the setting when wired depends on how its set up, as you dont want next door altering your wep key blocking you out and them using a yours on a new wep key
make sure you make a note of the wep key and whether its wep64 / wep 128 or what ever its set at else the other pc will no longer conect to it wirelessy until you put the same settings back in
if you cant see anything type in google HOW DO I ACCESS MY ROUTER SETTINGS IN NETGEAR ROUTER obviosly thats if you have a netgear or type REMOVING WEP KEY FROM NETGEAR ROUTER
if you do not have a wep key stored in the router and you are putting one in your psp it will not connect either.
i take it the wireless is switched on, on the psp (cant remember if it tells you or not if its switched off)
im not 100% sure how adsl modem routers work as i am on virgin media so maybe someone else can shed some light on it
you could also try connecting it round one of your mates who have wireless internet

go via the WEP route at your peril

a hacker driving past can hack your connection in seconds. Fine if you dont bank online etc.

Never managed to get the PSP online unless via WEP but wouldnt dream of leaving my connection so exposed.

what about hiding your ssid once you are connected the psp for the 1st time
if you wanna add something else just enable it again
once its hidden and someone scans for it it wont be found or am i wrong
