I listed my old laptop in the Trade it this afternoon. It appears online on the site so people can view it and contact you via email as well as by phone.

So I got an email from a lady afew hours ago stating this after I told her she could come to my home to view it:

Hello

I will not be able to handle that because i am an old woman and i just
want this item to be shipped to my son in LONDON via DHL and i will
make your payment on paypal

Laura

My Q is, is this a safe way of selling it? Would I be covered against any kind of fraud?

You should only ship to the confirmed address in Paypal. Any other and an Item Not Received claim will stand up and she will be refunded.

just say you only will accept a bank transfer

Sounds like a scam.

Who would cover you for the fraud anyway?

seems a bit odd her knowing about paypal if you ask me... i'd say yes thats fine i will ship, if she has paypal she must have a bank card, say you will except a bank transfer or a cheque.

That's more with ebay and paying as a result with paypal, I can't imagine they would look seriously into a claim when you have not taken any level of due diligence.

It sounds like a scam and probably is.

I am sure they do too, to avoid you from thinking properly. At least you won't lose out this time though. :)

It's an outside of ebay purchase. If she was to do an Item Not Received, she would only get what was in your Paypal account. They do not negative the account for non ebay purchases.

Doesn't get rid of the numerous other possibilities though.
