If he's happy with the LG that he already has then I'm sure he'd be happy with the 60" version of it (although the one at Amazon is not full HD). I've got a 50" LG and the picture is superb both on SD and HD.

Both models seems very similar..same resolution almost..tough call.

Personally I would go for the LG model.

They not 1080p, I know it dont mean much to you but all new TV's are (should) be like this as getting better in quality as if you connect a PS3 or X-Box to a 1080p TV Wwoooooooooooowwwwwwwwww!!! Looks great!!

EDIT: They are 1080p and the LG is a great price!! May look into that myself!!! Cheers Gerry!!

Watch the colour res on that LG - 12.5bit, if that refers to bits per pixel rather than bits per channel, is rubbish. It translates to about 6,000 colours. By comparison, you'll notice colour banding on your monitor if you have it set to 16k colours. There's probably some clever dithering techniques in place to get around it, but with the relatively low res of the screen and the size of the pixels, it might well look rather rubbish, ignoring the size. One to see in the flesh first, imo.
