Check for rotting on the board. Is it "rising" at all? It might just be condensation or a leak.

Feel them. Give them a tap and see if they feel "secure". Has it risen? It might just be a leak.

Is it "rising" or in a concentrated area? It might just be condensation. Clean it off and keep an eye to see if it comes back.

I wouldnt yet. Keep an eye on it.

We had a problem behind our sofa we had someone come and look at it and they said it was just condensation. We had some remedial works done on our property a couple of years ago so luckily we are guaranteed until 2031.

There's something mysterious happening to the wall in my bedroom. I hide in the living room and sleep on the sofa instead.

Could be a number of things, first it is very cold and moisure (natural) will always find it's way to the coldest wall. You could have rising damp which may need you to install a dpc - simple to do yourself (i.e. DryZone). Maybe you have plant pots or debris outside which is bridging your dpc.
Pointless painting or indeed using specialist paint.
Dehumidifier is nice and cheap and if you dry clothes inside then this is ideal.
Hopefully just condensation...
