have you got a touchpad device icon bottom right hand corner?
double click for settings
If not should be in control panel under mouse.

press the start button then type mouse in the search box, it should come up with a program for adjusting the touchpad settings.

If not you can download the appropriate program here http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~ck=anavml

If above simple solution does not work
I have a mouse attached and under mouse you should see both things.
I am on windows vista and the touchpad app in in c:/programe files/Delltpad
You could right click on you taskbar and look at properties and then notification area tab. click customize button and see if you can find the touchpad icon there.
Finally you could go into device manager and see if it shows in the device tree
what Operating system are you running?

102 results none seem to be the right one though, tried to download from dell support before posting on here, had to download there download manager and then it keeps telling me I haven't selected anything to download, I just ended up with 4 dell dl managers.

when I go via control panel it just comes up that I have a mouse plugged in(which i don't) nothing there for touchpad, tried notification area tab, not there either, will try device manager now, it's driving me mad because i've used it before, I know it's on here somewhere. Running XP, didn't like vista.

go to c:/ (or whatever yours is) then go to program files, then find DellTpad and then find DellTpad file. Open it and go to touchpad settings, and untick "tap to click".

I got it on a disc, make sure you don't have the dell cd's.

The file the link downloads when I try is named r165804.exe. Is the name of the download manager?

Have you seen the following in FAQ

Do I have to use the Dell Driver Download Manager to download files?
No, you can still download files via you browser without using the Dell Driver Download Manager. When your first try to download a file you will be presented with a pop up screen offering Driver Download Manager or Internet Browser. If you choose Internet Browser you can download files as per normal.

I chose Dell Driver Download Manager but now I no longer want to use it, what do I do?
To make the pop up appear again so you can chose not to download via the browser empty the cookies for you internet browser. Choose the second option for Internet Browser and ensure the remember by selection box is ticked on the bottom right of the pop up.
