hi just wondered if someone with a bit of knowledge could help me out
i am after a new tft lcd monitor but have read that some pc,s cant display certain resolutions,

on my control panell,display,resoution settings i can slide the setting slider to 5 settings which are, 1024x768 , 1280x768, 1280x 1024, 1600x1200, and 1920x1440

the tfts i have seen to buy have resolutions of 1600 x 900 ,1680 x1050,1440 x 900, etc which are not on my setting sdoes this mean they wont display on my pc?
it says my graphics card is via/s3g unichrome pro igp if thats any help

What size is the monitor?

I doubt that card will support widescreen resolutions although you could probably buy a cheap used card for £15 that does

i am currently using a 17 inch lcd tft

You can fit a AGP graphics card and if you put an add on here for Cheap AGP graphics card wanted that supports 1440 x900 someone will be able to sell you one for £10 -£15,

so basically i just need an agp card that can suport that resolution?
is it easy to install just slots in where the old one was ?
#7
my manual says 1 agp slot supports 1.5v,8x/4x agp card

no not really would be miserable performance even compared to your on-board,
see if you can pick up an agp nvidia 6600 or maybe even a 6800 they will be the best price/performance for your needs ;)

you should be ok on the psu with this but the reason i suggested the nvidia was because a few years ago i had an ati when i bought my 1440*900 monitor and the ati wouldn't do that res then..hopefully they brought out newer drivers since :whistling:
