HELP! big stain on carpet and landlords coming tommorow

I bought a Indian Vindaloo curry and also a portion of korma sauce for me to dip the naan bread in.

This was a few hours ago and was about to go to bed when I decided to take the rest of the sauce downstairs(since plenty of both were left)

As I walked out the door one slipped and as I went to grab it the other slipped

I wiped the floor right away but the carpet looks a bit reddish so also used that 101 carpet cleaner but it still looks a bit red but cant tell how bad as the carpets still wet.

Landlords coming tommorow to get keys for my old place(since I just moved) so he will see the mark if he comes.

I could theoretically put a mat down temporarily but as the stains right at top of stairs and next to bathroom its dangerous.

Any advice?

Near the bathroom? Please say you're female? No landlord would dare argue with lady problems!

What abvout just sticking a wash basket full of laundry there or something and pretend you were in middle of doing that when he calls round?

Its right at top of stairs so canr really do that, plus would need to move it to get past as there isnt much room.

Just chuck a duvet cover there as if you are doing laundry a duvet is big but easily positioned to be workable without obstructing. Im sure as a landlord he understands these things do happen though and will be understanding.

(just waiting for BG1 to come along and say "he cant see it if he's dead - just sayin')

Might as well give soda water a try. Think you're meant to use it straight away but maybe worth trying some in the morning.

How about just trying to be honest , after all you did this , its your fault nobody elses so take responsibility for it.

dont try to lie and cover it up , that just makes you weak , i would respect someone more for being honest then to lie and cover it up ....i would be more likely to let them off if they were upfront about it

Yep. The deposit he is likely to lose will be exactly how much it will cost to get the carpet cleaned too.

One would hope he is planning to buy, and try, stain removing products after the landlord has been.

You could always put an axe nearby and scent the room with the chilling odour of death. That might help.

Diluted lemon juice may help.

I find baking soda/ bicarbonate of soda good, dampen stain, sprinkle on and leave for a while, then scrub off.

Use Flash All purpose (neat) - don't dilute it as per the instructions. Rub into stain with kitchen towels. Worked for me the other night when my husband accidently kicked my glass of red wine across our cream carpet. I know it was curry but hopefully will do the same job.

I use vinegar on most of my stains!

For some reason now it looks worse.

The stain cant really be seen in dim light but really shows up during day or when the electric lights are on.

Will get a pic
