I'm looking at the Dell XPS 15 for £729 clicky

topcashback give 7% and i haven't really looked into any other kind of cashback/discount on it yet, I'm even tempted by the £779 version with the 2GB graphics card....think i'm gonna hold fire for a while see if it gets cheaper.

:)

In which case how about either of these - the toshiba has the 17" screen and a very good graphics card - more than enough for your needs, the lenovo does have a smaller screen and weaker graphics but also probably more than enough for you and is cheaper. Toshiba looks nicer (I think)

i don't know much about graphics cards/processors/ram etc...

but i'm looking at the toshiba one now, with the i3 processor and the dedicated graphics card and 4gb of ram, would it play games more demanding than football manager? things like fifa, or call of duty ?

It does look pretty nice for the money...

Yeah should be able to run games pretty well. I have a far worse card than that which ranks about 40% worse of benchmarks and I can run bc2 and black ops on minimun specs - it should be able to handle them on medium specs. Games like fifa and cod4 will run very well I imagine.
See this review and comparison of game fps at bottom.
Looks like it will well - even on some very demanding games.

Good choice - only thing to consider is its only got VGA out not HDMI (on technical specs)
If this doesn't bother you then it should do the job! :)
