I have downloaded a few films in mkv format but as they don't play on the ps3 i've been trying to convert them to vob files

I have tried mkv2vob but i end up with the film converted with soun d missing off the end.

I then tried tsmuxer but ended up with no sound at all.

anyone know of a reliable programme to convert a mkv file to something the ps3 will play?

mkv2vob always worked fine for me.....

When was the last time you installed a codec pack?

total video converter will load up mkv, can't test it as my pc keeps crashing, as its a slow oldie, but you could maybe give it a try, it will convert files to loads of different formats

I use an app called 'gotsent' which converts mkv to mp4 which keeps the High Definition and can be played on my 360 via usb or re-writable disc.

That actually happened to me in media studies (shame school is over, but university is coming) when I asked a friend to make a documentary for his section of the report and the teacher said one hour long but he thought he said one day. He saved it on a 500gb hard drive and we were told to show how our work was going (to see if it was correct) on the projector for the class and he started playing it and after half an hour are classed asked how long it was!? He never lived that down!!

When using tsmuxer and changing to M2TS you have to change the AC3 audio to level 4.1 for the audio to work on the ps3.

Mine was about 80 percent done and lasted 8 minutes but with lots of special effects and extreme editing about wars including a battle with paintball markers in a wood and then watching his and about 25 minutes someone shouted "when is something going to happen, you have been eating breakfast for 6 minutes!"

converts it to a vob file?

yes, converts to IFO/BUP/VOB and burns to HDD or straight to dvdr.

2 hour movie encodes and burns in about 45 minutes (Dell E520 2ghz)

mkv2vob is the best program available for converting MKV's to PS3 playable HD files.

just make sure you have selected m2ts & slow encode as your settings & you should be fine :)

i normally burn the movie onto DVD+R DL using Nero 8 [DATA DVD] - cheap AONE discs work perfectly :)
