Well Im off to the Marhaba in 2 weeks and that was mostly based on the good reviews and location

Hi I have stayed at the Marhaba Royal Salem and it was a decent hotel, the decor was not exactly new, but the hotel was very clean and the food/desserts very nice. We stayed for 2 weeks and were v happy with the service.

I used tripadvisor before going - would definitelty go back.

thanks, marhaba was pretty varied on reviews for this year, jinene was more favoured by others.

I've been there before and didn't like it very much. Some of the hotels are quite nice but I didn't like the culture of the country. Being from a western country a lot of the locals/shop owners pester you to come into their shop and ask for money etc.

It's not the worst country to go on holiday to but there are a lot of better places you could go (IMO).

I went there last year and found it to be a nice change. Yes the locals do pester but thats part of the fun.

Tunisia is the only country in the world that i wouldnt care if it was nuked to pieces. Words cannot describe how bad that place is.

Just a tip, if you like to drink spirits take youre own as the prices in the bars were shocking. im sure a shot was arround £8. I dont drink spirits so it didnt bother me, but all the jocks were moaning!

Another tip is too take a coulple off litres off spirits to sell or trade. I sold 6 litres of Bells whisky for £30 a bottle and only paid a £10 fot it in duty free. Its heavily taxed and not available in many places. Wine is the same, hard to get hold off!

I had to laugh, i found it humbling how they live. In sort of shacks. Makes you feel glad for what you have got.

Sousse is meant to be really nice. My bro went to Tour Khalef, and enjoyed it. Was planning on going there myself, but perhaps too hot for me!

I don't know them hotels but like someone posted tripadvisor is a great site. They also have a good forum on there :)

I think Tunisia is a love it or hate it place. I really enjoyed my holiday We stayed at the Riu Bellevue in Port el Kantaoui.
The bartering and having a laugh with the shop owners was all part of the holiday. You just have to enjoy the game lol, if you don't want to just go to the fixed price shops. People give you hassle and want you to come in there shop and buy cheap tat, or come into there restaurant and will tell you you have met them before, your the brother from another mother lol A firm no will do, they are just crying out for your business!
Remember to tip, even if you're all inclusive the waiters are on crap pay as you expect.
I have a friend who went over there and stayed in the hotel 24/7 and said she didn't find much to do (she was in skanes ) there are some beautiful places I just thought what a waste :-D leecroot is right about the drink, gave my waiter a special bottle at the end of our holiday, should have seen his face! :-D

didnt like tunisea much myself, If money is a bit tight this year make sure you buy a few big bottles of jack daniels from duty free as you can sell them for a high price in tunisa also is a very good bargaining item in the big market they have on wednesday or thursday cant remember

ps i forgot to mention the carpet or rug factory. DO NOT GO INTO ANY OFF THESE. They are a massive con! i nearly bumbled into one that was hidden in a market. as i stepped in three huge blokes attempted to block the doorway, i only just managed to duck between them. Once you are in those places you can get intimidated very quickly! good luck
