I dropped my nokia 5800 in a cup of water :( (fully in the water) for basically a second and i took it out and it was fine for 2 minutes then it the unlock slider at the edge of the phone gets stuck and it keeps turning it self off. Now it doesnt turn on at all. That night i left the phone without the case on so it could dry and i put it near a radiator. So what can i do? Has anyone else dropped theirs in water and did you get it to work again?

If not might have to sell it :( not sure how much i could get for it, i have a nokia 3310 instead atm!!!

For future reference, the first thing you do is pull the battery and sim out. Dry off as much water as you can, then maybe dry it with a hair dryer, then leave it for a few days. Switching it on/testing it is the worse thing you can do until it's dry.

Thank god I don't have a mobile.

One less thing for me to break.

You can also put it into a bowl of (dry) rice, which will help draw water out.

Remove as many covers, etc as possible.
Make sure it is off, and the battery out.

I dropped a nokia in a glass of vodka before. I dried it out and it still didnt work so shoved it in a drawer. A couple of months later i took it out and it was working again so i dont think i had dried it out for long enough when it first happened. Ive also spilt a vase of water down the back of a tv before which was not working then started working perfectly again a couple of days later. I would dry it out and see what happens

my friend regularly manages to get her phones wet. She takes them apart as much as possible and puts them on a towel on the radiator for several days. They usually work again although sometimes some of the buttons dont quite work properly.

Did you manage to get the Ovi maps / Sat Nav working the other day. Or did you stick it in the water because you were so annoyed at not getting it to work?!!!! :whistling:

Hope you get it dried out ok.

Yep, rice rice works well, also good spread over laptop screen in the airing cupboard when water gets in - oops
