oh and its a internal drive in a laptop, rever replace or opened.

Mine did that this morning as it said I didn't have a decoder so I just downloaded one from microsoft.com and it worked perfectly. All their downloads are free so if you need drivers or service packs etc just get them from their or download another version of media player for free too!
Soz not really a techie but it worked for me so give it a go.:thumbsup:

Go into Control Panel then into Admin Tools then Computer Management, lower down the list you'll Disk Management, check to make sure that it has a drive letter assigned to it.

Also check your Device Manager to make sure that the drivers are installed properly and that Windows recognises it as working fine.

Hi if you havve installed itunes sometimes this can cause your dvd drive problem

rather than start a new thread, anyone hep me with mine, mine does nothing either, and in control panel it isnt there

control panel, hardware and sound, then devce manager and then click the right click on the highlighted thing and select scan for hardware changes. job done, now in my computer it should be there.

EDIT: this is for vista but it should be similar for xp.

not got a hardware and sound icon

found device manager by following advice you where given, right clicked and scanned for harware changes, but nowt happened
