Help! Found baby seagull on roof.

£0.00 @
Found a baby seagull a few days ago on our roof and it has been there since. I don't think it can fly and we are unsure what to do with it. Can someone offer some advice please. Thanks!

You should leave it - call the RSPCA but the mother might come back for it - they are very good at looking after their young. Thing is, it can't fly, it will be hungry and scared - if it perishes, unfortunately, that is nature. I saw a young seagull dodging cars on a Morning school run - it had no idea where to go and was going left, right and centre - cars seemed to be avoiding it, but if you didn't notice it till it was too late... well.
It seems that there is an overpopulation of seagulls at the moment - probably due to them surviving so well on rubbish. Best thing is - DON'T FEED SEAGULLS!

yes, yes it is. I know these things.

Yep, ring the RSPCA - don't go by it, your scent will be on it and it'll scare the mother off.

the rspca won't do anything, we had one that fell off our roof (3 storeys) and died last year and then another one fell into our garden. we told the rspca that we have dogs & they still didn't do anything so in the end we had to go to it with an umbrella over us & scoop it up in a towel & put it over the wall into the alley at the back of ours (on the rspca's says so). took them 2 days to tell us to do this mind you :whistling:

Maybe depends where you are. Are you near the sea?
I find it hard to believe the RSPCA or RSPB won't help out with this situation.

Thanks for all your help! Yes I do leave really close to the sea, I'll give RSPCA a call tomorrow. Hope they can help as I don't want to see the poor thing die.

i live 15 minutes walk from the sea. the rspca said that it is too common for them to deal with each & every baby seagull unless they are injured

At least if you know you've spoken to the experts and told them the situation, then you have done your best to help a natural situation. Are you north, south, east or west coast?

we lived at the top floor of a 20-storey building, one morning a baby swift (really beautiful creature its head/eyes looking like a falcon/hawk) 'landed' on on our balcony, wasnt moving ... so we kept it warm and some water in a shoebox and left it with the concierge till the RSCPA picked it up. we were pretty impressed they came the same day!

not sure about seagull, best call them and they can advise.
