If it is system tools then follow these instructions.

Download Malwarebytes on another machine, and install it to your laptop.
Run it, and it should clear it up.

If it is system tools here are 2 previous threads with all the suggestions,. The length of the threads may indicate how difficult it is to get rid of.
My advice is to just save your energy, wipe your hard drive and reinstall windws.

Glad you sorted it. I tried both of those with no luck.
It's so annoying that they are allowed to get away with these scams. Grrrrrrr :|

what you need to do is use another PC if you can and download RKILL to kill the virus startup processes. Start the PC is Safe Mode, use RKILL, then use either Malwarebytes or Superantispyware.

You could also go to I think ALL USERS - APP DATA and delete any folder that has random alphanumeric characters.

Edit the registry (if you dare) go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and locate the runonce, look for again random alphanumeric characters and delete...This is all from memory so double check everything I have said before you do this...Last thing I need is an invoice from you because I suggested something and it was wrong lol

what security were you using that let this thru?

I had a virus few weeks ago- I used Combofix and that sorted it no probs.

What is the fake virus program popup called?

Sometimes fixes are brought out to remove specific popups as I had to talk my younger brother through removing one (over the phone) that locked up his computer behind a fake antivirus start screen demanding money to unlock it.

Funny enough ive just had a computer in now with exactly the same nasty on it.

we got rid of it by doing a system restore to 2 days ago
thanks for help

combofix will sort this out, think someone from here had similair issue and I advised her to use combofix, and it got rid of the virus

Yep didnt seem that much of a nightmare to get rid of. Booted to safe mode under admin account - ran RKill to remove any active processes - ran combofix - done a second check with MalwareBytes - finally done a third check with Spybot.

System now clean and back to its original state.
