Help, Lost Item from Ebuyer

Last Wednesday morning I bought a graphics card from ebuyer website on the free supersave delivery (within 5 days).
To my surprise it was despatched later the same day.
I contacted ebuyer the next day requesting a tracking number, but was told the there wasn't one as the item was being delivered by royal Mail. However the lady told me "it was out for delivery" and should be with me within the day.

Having still not recieved it today, called ebuyer back. After numrous wishy-washy excuses,
I was asked if I wanted another graphics card sent out, I refused it saying, I'd rather not go through this again with them.
Then I was told to hold on till the 29th as thats when it would have been delivered with the 5 working days deadline and that Royal mail might be holding onto the parcel till then.

Is it usual for ebuyer to send a £130 graphics card by normal post with no tracking?
And would Royal mail hold onto a parcel to deliver it over 5 days later?

It's the senders problem, seems a bit daft to send something worth that much without any sort of tracking though

when I have bought things from companies like that, they have no tracking number but have a barcode attatched, guessing thats how its tracked?

If you chose super saver delivery, i don't know why you phoned eBuyer up. I don't know why it has said it was disptached? I've used ebuyer lots and lots of times and if it says within 5 days, usually it comes in 3 but has been known to come on the 5th day. It's just to cover themselves.

I HIGHLY doubt your item is lost. If it doesn't come by Wednesday this week, give eBuyer a ring.

And i'm surprised they are using royal mail, they usually use CityLink?

Only time I have had a Royal Mail delivery from eBuyer, was when the item shipped directly from one of their own suppliers (Computer 2000 it was - I think).

May be they marked it dispatched as soon as they placed the order for it themselves!?

The only reason I phoned them was to find when to expect delivery as it had been despatched so quick. Like you say they usually despatch after around 2-3 days, but the fact they despatched same day surprised me.
And the fact they sent it royal mail means they don't know where it is and when it will get to me.

That's stopped now, they only use city link for the next day stuff, ebuyer took the hump when city link got the amazon contract cos amazon got city link to treat saturday like a normal day but ebuyer were told no (atleast that's what my city link driver told me) now they use other couriers too.....

Oh and the comments above are correct, when the item is being direct from supplier it's marked despatched as soon as the order is processed, not despatched....C2000 are pretty quick though

That would be soooo... cool. Unfortunately, as of Wednesday last week, they are still using City Link for free 5day deliveries.

Royal Mail delivering the parcels would mean that I can go out after 10:30am, knowing that the thing is not going to arrive that day.
With City Link the delivery guy can literally turn up any time, between 8:30am and 5:15pm (drives me nuts!):viking:

Depends on the Royal Mail Service used:
Royal Mail First Class Standard - then they're stupid because they're not insured
Royal Mail First Class Recorded - then they're stupid because it only insures up to £39, but they should still have a tracking number
Royal Mail Special Delivery - the sensible option because it's insured up to £500 and gets delivered next day. Should also have a tracking number.

Royal Mail First class is usually delivered within 2 days, Special Delivery is guaranteed next day. Either way you should have it today at the latest. If not make sure they send another one out to you because it could be likely that a postman has taken advantage of an uninsured product.
