HELP: Mac related

Right So ive purchased a Mac Mini and it wont burn DVD files or even play dvd files.

When I put a dvd in its just making noise like its reading it and then after 3 mins its spitting it out.

Ive also been a bought a brand new cheap DVD to test it and its not working...

Would it be hard to get a dvd-RW put into a mac mini?

Am I doing something wrong?

THe SuperDrive is gone, this is common problem, the original person who sold you this Mac Mini should know very well. You don't have to test it as it won't work

If your drive is UJ-868, I am not surprise. My advice is to look for an external one or look on Ebay for UJ-898, which is much more reliable drive.

Add: The replacement is fairly simple, instructions all over the net

Yes..on Ebay they are £35 to £40, Apple charges ridiculous labour cost, 15 minutes job

Best practice is to Report the thread in question to mods..just to make them aware there is an issue at this stage, then try to work things out with the seller

Has it not been working since you have had it?! I would speak to the seller, they could be quite reasonable and it may have been working fine when they sold it. Good luck!

I would have no Idea how to fix it..
TBH when i received the item The back of the magic mouse was faulty and although the seller claimed it was not like that when it was sent, I decided to keep it.

Now Im no to sure, reading threw his comments he did confirm he would give me 2 months warranty on Hardware so he musnt have realised the problem

I remember the thread as I love my apple products, send him a pm or give him a ring see what they say.

Thats the sad part haha

If you do decide to fix it yourself there are some excellent mac mini disassembly videos on youtube, should be a fairly straight forward job, much easier than swapping the ram on them, i'm presuming its not the brand new mac mini design.
