Short and sweet...

Downstairs in the living room is the wireless router. We use it for our laptops fine but i'd like to use it for my desktop aswell without running an ethernet cable all round the house. Ive had a gander in a few places and the prices vary as much as the mehods do!

Ive seen everything from Wifi USB sticks to Wireless Networking Cards and could really use a helpful hand in choosing.

I dont wanna spend too much, hopefully £20 max.

Any help is hugely appreciated ¬_¬

should be able to get away with buying a wifi usb stick for not much

How far away is the desktop and can you the laptops get a good signal from where the desktop is?

very quick search (i was on play site anyway): clicky

Prob easier for you to get a usb one rather then a Wireless NIC. simple plug n play

I couldn't get my desktop to connect to wireless regardless which adapter I used (they worked on my laptops). I solved the issue by adding a ethernet plug to the wireless modem, and one direct to the computer (goes through mains) and everything works perfectly.

I can recommend this because I have it and it really works well...
Same reason as yours for purchase.

Ariel gives good signal and I have an older desktop if this helps

I spotted the one that is red-hot here for £9.99 + postage (only 14mbps). But ive decided against it for a few different reasons. Maybe sometime in the future but not for now, just after a bog standard wifi connection :)
