hi everyone -
Paypal is trying to take money from me again.
I sold a ps3 three months ago for £350 and the buyer paid me fully and the transaction was complete. but yesterday i receive an email saying the buyer credit card company has done a chargeback and the money has been removed from my account. i m really frustrated - should not the credit compnay pay the refund to the buyer rather then take the money from me. called but was told i am not protected and the case is going on. i send the console to the paypal registered address and also have provided the tracking no (luckily i had that normally i throw it away).. plz how can i get my money back.

was it a stolen credit card then?

Have You Tried To Contact The Buyer To Find Out Why?
#3
Did they say why you were not protected?
#4
uh-oh....

I used to get a lot of these on Amazon, high value items would be purchased and then the buyer would try and claim some months down the line, basically hoping that the seller has thrown out the proof of postage/delivery etc thereby having nothing to proove that the item was sent. End result, credit card company reverse transaction process. You lose both item and money.

If you have proof of postage and proof of delivery then it shouldnt be a problem.

wat how can they do that? i sold an item on ebay once and they guy who bought it raised a dispute even though i sent it recorded and it was showing his signature and he won the case and i lost the item and he got his money.

god i hate paypal this has happened to me twice in the last few months but only for smaller amounts but its so annoying
#7
Don't you just hate paypal, they make you accept it on eBay now as well.
I feel your pain mate I got stung for almost £300 selling a projector.

i think thats what the buyer is saying - but i have still not contacted the buyer. i cannot even remember contacting him/her at the time. but i checked on the tracking no at royalmail and can see a digital signature. paypal is saying i send it to a unconfirmed address. so what but the address was provided by paypal...

+1

In my case all of this happened, they left positive feedback which paypal clearly saw in the dispute, and I still completely lost out.

Check if the address was PAYPAL CONFIRMED . This is happening to me at the moment. i sent an item special delivery to the buyers paypal confirmed address and have recieved positive feedback yet paypal still have a hold on my money. It seems they just dip into peoples accounts keep the money for a week or so and them help themselves to the lump of interest they earn from it!
Have you tried the live help? Thats enough to make anyone top themselves- a complete waste of time!

what i am thinking is - i have already cancelled my direct debit with paypal so they cannot striaght away take out the money from my account. my paypal account is in a negative. so in the case if i lose the case and paypal demand the money from me can i not close my account and dont pay?? will their simply call in the debt collecters and spoil my name with blacklisting me???
#13
What were the reasons for losing the case even though proof of postage and delivery was given?

3 montha ago, paypal did not offer seller protection if you posted to an unconfirmed address. I dont think you'll get anywhere with paypal I;m afraid.

www.paypalsucks.com might offer better advice than you will get here.

If you account is in negative you cannot buy, sell or receive money. If you sent to an unconfirmed paypal address then i am afraid you have probably lost your money. Always send to a paypal confirmed address. Good luck.
#16
feel sorry for you mate, paypal is one of the reasons i refuse to sell on ebay anymore just not worth the hassel, some people deliberatly look on ebay for high priced items with the soul intent of ripping people off from the start im surprised they get away with it

Just had a look on Alexa and ebay UK page rank has really dropped compared to last year. Wonder why.....

maybe tell the buyer you are about to issue a small claims summons against them and their prescence will be required in court. You may get lucky and they might reinstate the original payment. Worth a try.

The transaction date wasthe 7th, i posted on the 8th and they put a hold on the 9th so early days yet but they don't seem to be forthcoming with any relevant knowledge.

Very sorry to hear what's happening, must be rather stressful.

Even if you close the account and everything, Paypal will just get the debt collectors onto you, I'm afraid :-(

On the 7th October there were some changes on Paypal. It was announced that we can now send to unconfirmed address and still be covered by Paypal. What we now have to do is go in to the Paypal transaction and then 'details'. It then tells you in there whether or not you are covered by Paypal for this transaction. It also tells you if it is ok to post the item.
Was th op's transaction before the 7th October. Also when Paypal told her she was not covered they will have given her a reason - what was that reason.

you won't be able to close your account with a negative balance. What was the auction number?

The only thing that fleabay and paypal successfully do is shaft the users. They take their money and its tough to everybody else.
#30
Ebays share price is in freefall, and they're down 20% on users over the last year. I suspect they might not be around much longer. Given they've managed to successfully destroy their own business and drive away almost all of the genuine good sellers, this is hardly surprising. And I don't feel remotely sorry for them.

Firstly I would contact the buyer telling him that as he is claiming his card was used fraudulently, you are going to contact the police, as you have proof that the goods were delivered to an addresses and signed for, so that will help with their investigations. If its someone just trying it on they will probably **** themselves and try to pay you.
If it was fraudulent then just write your paypal and ebay accounts off.
They will send it to debt collectors, who don't do anything except write and call you threatening you with court action.
They won't default you (as there is no credit agreement) and they won't take you to court.
#32
for that kind of money id be making a personal visit to the buyers house

his email addres will be on the paypal payment
if that fails send him a recorded delivery letter

Had one of these chargebacks for £200 for a mobile phone, months after selling. I had to provide the royal mail proof of posting, and copies of messages exchanged with the seller. Paypal gave me my money back because i think they had no other option as i had followed procedure. As long as you have this stuff, you should be OK. As i recall, i dont think the address had been verified.

i have contacted the financial-ombudsman because paypal clearly told me today i did not have seller protection as i send the item to an unconfirmed address. the case is still running but if i lose i will have to pay the entire amount. (really upset about this). financial-ombudsman have send out a letter on behalf of me and told me to wait for 8 weeks. do you think this will help becuase the lady at paypal was very clear and said i can contact anyone i want do anything but will have to pay the amount if i lose the case..

dont think the police can help to be honest.
