going to a wedding at the racecourse holiday inn in wolverhampton on 2nd may ..wanna stay overnight in birmingham as next day wanna go drayton manor (tamowrth). wedding is during the day so have evening to ourselves and wanna go into birmingham.

staying in wolverhampton we will have to go far into birmingham and back during night and trek to tamworth will be long next day.
staying nr tamowrth puts us far from both birm and wolves, as wanna go back to hotel after wedding and get dressed into relaxed clothes before heading out in evening with kids. so thinking...whats a good location for a budget hotel; premier inn stylee!

thanks!

Why not stay in tamworth, if you want something to do in the evening there is the cinema/bowling etc a few places where you can eat and retail parks if you wanted to do a bit of shopping. Sutton Coldfield is also ok and not far from Birmingham or Tamworth.
I used to live around 15 miles from all of the above and used to go to them all. Enough to keep a family happy for the evening.

stay in the Novotel in Wolverhampton, its a nice hotel, near to the town center, and on the tram line. the tram will take you into Brum.. or walk about 5 mins the train station and get into brum in about 15mins if you take the virgin train... its quicker.. less stops... not sure about tamworth though.. but thats the best hotel in town in wolvo...

Were in spain that wknd, you can have my house :)

Or

How about stopping at a b and b in coleshill?
You can get straight on the a446 upto the belfry, turn right and 2 miles down the road you reach drayton manor park, it would take you 10 -15 mins from coleshill to drayton manor.

If not coleshill, then there is a holiday inn by the NEC, with the little owl pub next door.

Lots of other hotels at the NEC / Airport but might be pricey.

Alternatively stay in/near to Cannock (where I live :)) - it's about 10 mins from Wolverhampton, and about 20 mins to Tamworth (straight along the A5).

Not great amounts to do on the evening (there's an ice rink, quite a few places to eat and lots of pubs in town), but would be well situated for both places :)

We often go to the casino at star city and eat in the restaurant.

They have a 3 course deal for £6.95 !!!! and its fantastic. Great food and for every £5 on the bill, they give you £5 worth of chips to play on the tables with.

Nearly every week, we have bet on either red or black and come out on top !! Free evening out with great food and drink, can't be bad.

ive stayed in wolves...its a dump
ive regularly stayed in brum.....its a dump but at least there is something to do
most reasonable hotels (avoid the grotty cheap ones like mcdonald, britannia, travelodge) in brum are near the new st train station eg. crowe plaza, hyatt, holiday inn, etc
if you need a carpark, the crowne plaza is right on top of one and is about 10 mins from the train station

best restaurant in brum ive been to is st carlos italian - decent food, not mega expensive (£35-50 for 2-3 courses), bit cramped tho - indian: ashes is ok, chinese/thai: yet to find a decent one, most are are rubbish, avoid eat as much as u likes unless you love msg and poor food and as for chez rouge pls shut this garbage 'restaurant'

You're thinking of the cinema, and what used to be Tiger Tiger

Forget staying in Brum if you are using a car, well the centre of Brum anyway.

Oldbury is as good an area as any to stop. In between Wolverhampton and Birmingham, right by the Motorway network to get to Drayton Manor, and choice of hotels from Holiday Inn Express(always a favourite!) to a new thats been built recently (name evades me for the moment, not Hilton, but something like that!)
