same problem on firefox & internet explorer?

You have to be careful with this. Sometime the are rogue ads that want you to download their flash player, which will have spyware with it.
#3
Some browsers have the ability to block flash and Java so you need to say which browser you are using.
#4
If i remember correctly, you need to go to java.com and make sure you have the latest version installed. Just follow the instructions there.
Then go to adobe website and go get flash. If you are using IE, it will install automatically in the background while FF will download the exe and you have to install it from th ere.

Try to uninstall Flash using this program

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Then close and reopen the browser

Then download Flash player from here.

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Note Java and javascript are NOT the same thing (in fact they are totally different things)

Note JAVA and Javascript are NOT the same thing.

Going to java, com will get you JAVA which is NOT the same as Javascript.

In fact Javascipt is nothing to do with Java.

Download from the official site to desktop
right click and choose 'run as administrator'
sometimes this works, vista has the built in user controls which stops a lot of things installing without administrator privileges

How about doing a diagnostic startup to reduce the interference of other programs & then going to the adobe site in internet explorer to install flash?

Make sure you install adobe player for IE... not for firefox:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

2. check that javascript is allowed in IE:
heres how to check: http://www.mistered.us/tips/javascript/browsers.shtml
Open Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
On the Security tab, click Internet.
Click Custom Level. (Fig.1)
Scroll down to Active scripting.
Click Enable (or Prompt). (Fig.2)
Click OK.
Click Yes.
Click OK.

good luck

Go back on to selective startup & clear the 'Load startup items' but leave 'Load system services' checked.

Really shouldn't have told them to do that, just caused loads of hassle now. Anyway you need to install flash as an active x for IE.

how is that done?
#18
Feel free to elaborate how selecting 1 radio button to switch between normal startup, diagnostic startup & selective startup is 'loads of hassle'.

Start > Run > Type "msconfig" without the quotes > OK > Select Diagnostic Startup > OK > Restart

i wont do this if i were a novice computer user as it will disable all costumized win services load setting and it will take ages to resetting them again
