I got hold of a cheap 20GB HD today and am trying to move all all game saves currently using the transfer kit and disc on my 120GB HD and it's not recognising the 20GB (which works) plugged in and it's not letting me get past the 2nd stage of the transfer (connnect transfer cable screen). The option to press button a (to continue) is greyed out and doesn't change.

I wiped the 20GB HD I bought today as it had the previous owners game saves on it before I started.

Is it because it's a 120GB transfer kit and I'm obviously doing it the other way around?

Doing this as I'm trading in my Xbox 360 and 120GB tomorrow at Gamestation in preparation of my COD super elite, which I have pre ordered as I would ideally like to keep all my game saves etc until the 10th November.

you can only transfer to larger drives, moving data from a 120gb to a 20gb isn't possible with the transfer kit, i've read that you can use the cable (or a different one i'm not sure) to transfer the data to your pc, i have bought a seperate pc transfer kit from dealextreme for a few quid but i haven't tried it yet.

i'll be doing it if i can't transfer data from my 120gb to the 250gb that's coming next month, microsoft first said you can't re transfer the data but now they say it might be possible.

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Online Support for Xbox! I am Eljay and I will be helping you today with this issue.

As I understand it, you would like to know if it is possible to use again your data migration cable to transfer data from your 120 GB hard drive to the new 250 GB hard drive that's coming with the Limited Edition console. I look forward in providing you the necessary assistance.

First off, you have only the options to perform a one-time transfer of content from a 20GB Xbox 360 hard drive to another Xbox 360 20GB or Xbox 360 120GB hard drive. Apart from this one-time option to move all content to your new drive, you cannot copy or move files from one hard drive to another, regardless of drive capacity.

Wouldnt take everything they say at face value. They once told me I couldnt go from a 20gb to a 60gb. Besides, that would be a pretty dumb move if it was true.
