Hi
Don't know if anyone can offer any advise but for the last year or so my dog has been weeing on her bed most nights then she quite happily sleeps in it. She has a cat flap so can get into the garden at any time.
Its really getting me down now as I bath her, wash her bedding then the next night she does it again and ends up not smelling very nice!
I have tried not washing her bedding for a few days but this makes no difference she will still happily lie in it.
I don't think she has a bladder problem as sleeps in the lounge in the evening and never wees and is clean around the house.
If anyone can help I would be very grateful.
Thanks x

I would suggest to either take her to the vets and get her checked out properly because even as you say she sleeps in the living room in the evening she might not be in a deep sleep so she is aware of what is going on but dozing..... At night she might be totally out of it and just wets herself. If can happen.

Do you personally take her out into the garden? If not give that a try for definate!

I would try litter training her if taking her out in the garden doesnt work.

At the pet shop i work at we sell a puppy training spray you could try that on some doggie pads in a litter tray and see how that goes?

Obviously its totally up to you but its worth a try. doing some of the things I' ve suggested..... might also be a good idea to get a new bed as the smell may still be thier and the dog knows she can get away with pee'ing on it.

Hope this helps a bit :)

try putting the basket in your room. It might be a nervous habit and she needs company.

while shes doing it get her a solid bed and put wood shavings in it saves cleaning up the soft bed and should keep her cleaner, sounds like it could be more than her just wetting herself for the sake of it tho!!

Tried buying new beds but as Hushpuppy suggested perhaps it is beacuse she is going into deep sleep in night as she's getting older.
She is nearly 9, been happening for approx 1 - 2 yrs. She never wet her bed before this. She does go out to wee in evenings as I see her going. She has used the cat flat for about 6years now. Thanks for all your answers

9 isnt old..... thats a nice age for a dog. Mine is 18 lol. See if she has got a bladder problem and if not then take steps from thier.... it will make a differnence to check for definate to make sure she is OK.

Girl dogs especially when spayed get a little incontinent when then get older. She will probably just be dripping drops of wee all night without knowing.

You just need to go to the vets they will prob give her some drops that youll put on her food that will stop it straight away, called propalin. They will aslo check she hasnt just got a waterwork infection first.
