I need your help you good people of hukd! I bought the Logik blu-ray player posted on hukd and managed to update the firmware to Profile 2.0. Apparently, this allows you to play divx files through the usb socket. However, I am unable to play my avi movie download files. It just comes up with an error message saying sorry. on one avi file, it plays for 3 seconds then freezes.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? The Currys website says that it plays divx so it looks like it should be capable of doing so. I know Currys get their descriptions mixed up (and they did say it has scart even though it does not!) but other people have said it is divx-capable.

There is no .divx.
Divx is just a video codec that's good at compression.

Have to agree with babbabooey - divx is a codec but there are no .divx files. AVI is a divx/xvid file format.

DivX and Xvid are codecs or compression standards and AVI is the container. You can have different containers, but usually for DivX and Xvid, avi is used as the container. Try checking what DiVX profile is supported by the player. Download SUPER and try and convert it to that specific version of DiVX and make sure the containers are correct as well. GSPOT Codec info is good to check if something will play or not. It will give you the full info about the file.

But the file name will not be xyz.divx
It will either be xyz.avi or xyz.wmv or similar.

There's no product website so how else can I find out what divx profile it supports? Or would it just have to be good old trial and error? GSPOT seems to apply to just playback on a computer.

I wonder if the Logik's codecs can be upgraded?
