I moved into my first house in April 2008 bought everything brand new and everything now seems to be dying on me which is really starting to annoy me! I bought decent brands at mid range price so this wouldn't happen.

So the latest casulty is my Samsung hoover bought from Argos last April. This has burnt two of my brand new carpets! I am sooooooooo mad. I've spent thousands and thousands doing my house up. SO MAD! Especially as it is in the middle of the room and one of the carpets is in my front room. It has basically made a bit of a hole and little burn. It's obviously overheating so I dare not use it again. Well I did on the hall as I'm getting a new carpet there anyway and it made 3 large burns there as well, quite bad. Looks like the living room and bedroom carpets got off lightly!

I was just going to go and buy another hoover from Argos when I saw that the Samsung hoover I was looking at buying comes with two year guarantee. Does anyone know if this is standard with Samsung Vaccum cleaners as I still have the receipt and could really do with not having to fork out more money on things that are basically brand new.

I think the two year guarantee will be with Samsung so you would need to contact them and see if your issue is covered.

You might also need to invest in a new rug xD

Phone argos, see if its them or Samsung, then ring Samsung, tell them whats happened and that its burnt 2 of your carpets and your not best pleased, see what they say.

Do you have contents insurance? Can you maybe claim on that for your carpets?

I've never heard of a hoover burning a carpet before. What is getting that hot on the hoover it burns it?

Is it a height adjustable one? if so i think it is set too low.

After that amount of time it should be samsung that you go to. I sent a camera off for repair to them a couple of years ago and it was a quick service. There was a phone number for them in the warranty and had to send a description of what the matter was with it.

Thanks for all the replies. The hoover has only just started to do this. It seems to be fine at first but when it has been on for a while if you use the hose to get corners, while it is standing still it burns the carpet. I don't know how but it is?

I do have contents insurance but I don't want to claim as the burns are not huge, the one in the spare room wasn't a thick carpet and it has totally taken the fabric off but it's only a tiny bit, about half a cm. The living room carpet is very thick so it seems to have taken about half of the fabric off in an area about one inch and does kinda look like a bit of a hole so not sure what to do. If I claim, my premium will be sky high next year.

I don't actually have any warranty from Samsung I don't know if your supposed to have filled a card out or anything when I bought it but I didn't. I do have the receipt though from Argos. I might give them a call see what they say. Are Argos helpful with this sort of thing? I bet it was only 1yr guarantee but suppose it's worth trying.
