Does your laptop have a button on the main unit to bypass the battery?

I know mine has one so you can use it without having the battery set on a constant charging cycle. Shame I wrecked the battery before discovering it...

If the laptop works normally when plugged in, but won't work on the battery alone, the impact probably damaged the circuitry in the battery. You'll need a new one.
