Hi, I was wondering if anyone might know if there's a cooling off period when you take out a contract with Orange.
I did it online and stupidly I didn't make sure it had facebook, since it said Dophin I assumed it did. I rang them and they're charging an extra £5 a month for internet, which makes it double what I was paying on PAYG.
I was hoping to just pay CPW for the handset and cancel the contract.
I have tried ringing this morning, but couldn't get through. The woman at Orange was quite snotty with me yesterday, before I'd even thought of cancelling!
Ordered phone on Friday and received it on Monday.
Any advice would be appreciated, and yes I know it's my own silly fault!

Any mobile phone contract has a 14 day cooloing off period.
Just call and say you want to cancel the agreement - or go into an Orange store if you have one nearby

Problem is I put the sim card in and sent a text before I realised I was being ripped off by Orange!
Defo can't return phone, but I don't mind paying for the handset as it's unlocked.

I think even if you have used it you can send it back, they just bill you for what you have used.....but I don't think they will let you keep the phone, or pay for it :?

Yep, if you cancel the contract you need to return the phone (it's phones like this that are sold on as "refurbished"). There's a statutory 14 day cooling off period for phone contracts, so just take it to an orange store and ask them to cancel.

+1 you have 7 days acc to orange t&cs

I'm sure it's 14 days statutory, regardless of Orange t&c's...

Don't mobile contracts state that if you have used the phone even once then you can't return it, and you are tied to the contract.

Just pay the extra fiver. Mobile internet is one of life's modern essentials. I couldn't get by without email on the move, Google Maps, MSN Messenger, and mobile web access.

I don't see how you been too thick to read a contract you signed up to constitutes been 'ripped off'.

I said that cos it say's in my T&Cs that after you put the sim card in the phone it CANNOT be returned, but if you cancel your contract they will bill you for the handset.

Anyway I'll probably end up keeping it cos I can't get through on phone.

Thanks for all feedback:thumbsup:
